Thread: Best Species for TKM

I just started a new character as a Trandoshan and am planning on going for TKM. As I was looking at the stat migration, I saw that the max for secondary action statsis 400. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, Trandoshans can't wear leg armor. Does this mean that there is no way to defend against any leg shots? If so,are the innate brawler abilities of the Trandoshan worth the weakness in action, or should I try a different species? Also, does regeneration really do anything? Anyways, just some quick questions from a brawler noob. Thanks

regeneration does do something. it raises constitution +150 for a few minutes.

trans +10 unarmed dam is good when you start out trying to get unarmed xp, but once your high up in the tka tree it makes little to no difference. still +10 doesn't hurt. the action levels do bug me, seeing how you cant regen action that fast, and your health constitution is so high.

as far as armor it doesn't really matter, i guess with the KD timer i should really start looking into some armor.

Honestly, I've played both, and both my rl friends are Trandoshan TK masters, and I am a human TK master - both my friends say that if they could do it again they would not be trands, and I absolutely love the stat situation I can get being a human.

I went Trando as well at start because of the starting stats it made leveling the Unarmed tree very easy and very fast. I later tried a Zabrak and it was very difficult to raise up the unarmed tree. With my trando I leveled up to expert Unarmed in only a few hours but with my Zabrak it tookALOT longer just to get to Advanced unarmed.

Not saying 1 is better then the other but if you like the easy road then a Trando is probably the way to go. I also picked the Trando as they look as though they fit that role the best. I am not really into player cosmetics that much I am more in how my character performs in its role.

im a Rodian TKM on tarquinas.i myself went this route innitially to be very different.because alot went with the trandos for their obvious damage advantage.which is not a bad idea dont get me wrong.but if your in a mass melee and you see a trandoshan running at you even if he has a blaster, you know he is ready to hotswap em out for his VKs when he gets close.but if you see a rodian running around you think gunfighter or smuggler not TKA.which is an advantage in my book that far outweighs the damage bonus.

but hey its all fun and its personal preference.so have fun with nomatter what you choose.

zabrack is the best if you get some medical skills (which every tka should )

I chose Zabrak and it worked out well. Since you can't heal the mind, equelibrium is a life saver. And with medic skills, you can practically heal yourself up to full HAMs in a couple seconds.

I am a trand tkm. If i start a new character I will be a wookie. They have the most ham by far. Those of you that dont like the action issues with Trando's should invest in some tatooine sunburn. It's a shot that lasts 6 minutes and boosts quick to like almost 1.7k

I am not a dark jedi.
I am not a light Jedi
I do not see the light or the dark, it is all blended into grey.
Balance is the key, without it we would not be in harmony.

When we grey jedi get acknowledged then the real fight will start all of you upstarts will fall and balance will be restored.

Personally, I RP a TKM Zabrak and find them to be the best for teras kasi, even better than a Trando, heres why................

First of all, Zabraks get some cool defense stuff like defense vs dizzy and kd, and equilibrium is one of the most useful innate abilities for combat out of any of them. Its saved my ass many many times.

Secondly, although Trandoshans do get some nice offensive bonuses for melee, they do suffer from a very restricting setback that allows me to equal their abilities............................ they cant wear gloves or boots. That means that when skill enhancements are working correctly, I have 8 sockets readily available to me that a trandoshan will never be able to use. I can put melee damage modifiers in there and gain more melee damage than a trandoshan will ever be able to have.

All things considered, the Zabrak is the ultimate TKM. Once the game progresses and skill enhancing clothing becomes alot more commonplace, the advantages the trandoshans have in melee will be null and void to any advanced player.

I like the extra HAM of a wookie, and am not bothered by not being able to wear armor. I think it's only a matter of time until they allow some sort of wookie armor. Look at the Iksar in EQ, for those of us that played. They bitched and moaned about not being able to wear a certain armor type (plate), and sure enough, all the high end stuff they were able to wear, just like the rest of the toons, despite there bonuses.
