Seems that the non-VK unarmed attacks should be faster at the expense of damage.... Seems odd that non-VK attacks are both slower AND less damaging. Perhaps then we might see more actual unarmed TKAs running around. Just my 2 creds...

Well, I doubt this much thought went into it, but here goes..

Knucklers are large and heavy, giving them momentum in the hands of a fighter. The range of motion required is less because the momentum carries the weapon. A Teras Kasi artist, skilled with his own fists, can use these extensions very effectively and take advantage of the short motions and more deadly hits.

A finely balanced and well made weapon takes less effort to damage an enemy than a strike by a bare hand. You don't have to worry so much about your form, or whether or not you are going to injure your own hand, etc.

Now, at higher levels of training, all of this becomes second nature...as is reflected by the fact that Master TKA's have a vastly improved attack speed over, say, a brawler. In fact, it's significant enough that a Master TKA doesn't NEED a speed slice, because they are already as fast as they can get.

What would really be neat is if you got *even more* damage bonuses with NO weapon as your training increased, such that by the time you were a Master TKA you actually did *more* damage (as well as struck faster) than you do now with the knuckles. It needn't be much more; in fact it could be so close as to be nearly the same. I also don't propose to achieve this by NERFING knuckler damage - I mean a true BONUS added in increasing amounts when there is NO weapon.

Just a thought.
