Thread: To Vibro or not to Vibro
That is the question....
Sure the HAM cost kills you, but look at the speed. I personaly only use the knuckler when its 1 large thing to fight. The rest of the time is bare handed so i can use combos and keep stun, blind, intim, and sometimes Dizzy on them.
Post your style and why. And if you want it changed why should it be changed.
it cuts my ham in 1/2 but i use this combo on huge nme's like mnt squills
/unamredknockdown1; /unarmedblind1; /unarmedstun1; /unarmedhit2; /unamredhit2; /unarmedhit2; /unarmedhit2
if that dont kill em my ranged friends will kill it as i get out of its range and switch to my laster carbine
I only take the knucklers off for specials, then back on they go. With armor on I typically just tank it out, go toe to toe with them till they're dead. Either that or I let my rock beetle tank for me (a new perk I've found to working toward master doctor...I can actually HEAL my pets). If the pet tanks I go without armor and do a lot of specials like intimidate, stun, etc, then heal the pet just before going berserk and tossing on the VK's for some Twi'lek Blender action. I can usually blitz a huurton stalker lair without stopping to rest doing this, regenerating on the way to the next nest...it's nice to be able to keep making good money on missions, regardless of what SoE pulls. I may go to Dathomir and try out the giant baz nitch missions again, those were always fun, since those things are the biggest overcons of the galaxy. (shh, don't let SoE know)

I have one major issue with not using knucklers and that's armored enemies. If something has armor 1+ I guarentee you I'll be in far better condition than someone who tries to barehand it. I've tried spamming specials but I find it chancy in most cases and not worth the ham cost. Especially on large enemies like rancors. I can't imagine trying to spam specials to kill the rancor first, but I can imagine wearing armor, using intimidate and berserk, and getting down and dirty with a knuckler. Berserk may be nerfed but I can still pull 600 dmg punches with the vk's on, and that for a little more than the cost of 1 unarmed hit 3, which I can then equal the dmg on with 2 hits, and continue from there with no additional ham costs.
When you're talking unarmored enemies, yes, things change and either technique seems to work pretty well, but when you're fighting armor, better get the vk's on or be ready for a difficult fight.

Definitely, to Vibro! You are cutting your speed and damage in half by not wearing a good, sliced VKs.
I too only removed them for my opening special moves combo, and then on they go again.
If you useVK, go for heavy damage ones. I have tested a couple pairs and I perferto use my 128-163/2.2 pair, compared to a 118-135/1.7 pair. With the "slower" pair equiped, I hit a mob twice for every one hit I take. With the "faster" pair equiped, the 2:1 hit ratio is the same. Must be the minimum speed cap. I am not sure why anyone short of being a master would not use VK. Sure HAM costs are high if you use VK, but the average damage is not increased by going bare-handed and using specials. On a side note, intimdatedoes not seem to use VK to calculate the HAM cost, so save your time and dont bother un-equiping them for that move (Warcry is also not effected by VK, but I dont think many people use it).
I also wear an almost full suit of Composite armor (not glovesor boots)constantly, so this tactic may not aply to non-armor wearers who need to use a lot of special moves.
i usually only take them off to special...then right back on they go....although sometimes i even just leave them off and spam unarmed hit 2 like crazy....if u think about it u can do more dmg spamming that many times with less ham cost than spamming other moves with vibros on and killing urself even more like UH3
I am working my way up TKA, I always use the VK's now.
I actually take kill the creatures now faster using the VK's (sliced to 1.8 speed, plus 122 dam and they are AR1). If I take them off and use specials my hams vanish due to the length of time it takes to kill them without the VK's.
I usually hunt bantha to get XP (not to bad for me), with VK's equiped, using no specials just attack I can usually down a bull bantha in about 50% ham usage. The speed of the VK's let me hit them twice for every one time they hit me. If I am not out of range, but they are still hitting me that it.
If I unequip the VK's use the specials, If I am lucky I only need to use a stimpack once, usually twice to kill the 1 bull bantha.
Even if I use blind, stun, dizzy with the VK's I still survive with less damage and kill the creature quicker.
With the VK's equiped I am doing 250 to 350 damage twice, for the one time I can do 150 to 250 damage without the VK's. At at this time the creature is hitting me once, so using VK's I can actually do a lot more damage. Yes the specials can do more damage but find specials are best with the VK's due to speed increase, then you have a high ham cost. And I manage better now using autoattack, instead of specials. Just have to keep moving closer to the creature so you dont keep missing for being out of range.
Maybe at higher levels the VK's don't make so much of a difference, but I find them a needed tool to be able to fight reasonable creatures. And they work well for me, just have to adjust your playstyle and use specials only when needed or have a stimpack ready to use after a specials spree.
since i started the game when you didn't need a certification for VK's i have always used them. i mean why not? ham costs? simple just macro something to take them off before you KD
all i do is take the VK's off use KD, dizzy, stun, intimidate, blind, then put them back on and use unarmedhit2 until its dead
my friend just became a novice doctor and buffs me for 1500+ on every health and action stat so i can use as much specials and never lose any health or action. and when you have a pair of VK's for 185 max dam, WHY NOT ?!?!?!
