This decision is highly subjective. It depends on what "the best" means to you. If you want to take advantage of racial skill bonuses to the fullest, Trandoshan would be your primary choice. If youlike racial skills, Zabrak is superb (for Equilibrium). If you want to be able to wear full Composite armor with little troubles, go with a Human. If you don't care about armor at all, then a Wookie is a good choice.

I'm a Zabrak TKA, and I love it. Vitalize is not that interesting but Equilibrium absolutley rules. Because of my stats I can't wear full Composite, but I can wear the key Composite peices with a few Padded peices to fill in the missing spots. Zabraks also get high a high Focus bonus and cap, which really helps recovering from using heals and Center of Being.

One more thing to keep in mind is what you want your secondary role to be. That can have an effect on your species choice.

In most games I have played, including this one, end-game for all classes is the same. Cept for the special abilities some guys have like Zabrak. Thats about as good an answer you can get from me.

What would you pick up as extra profession i would say,

Rodians seem good in the Melee business
Wookie would do good if you want Creature handler next to it, although you cant wear armor, but some people like it some dont so thats up to you.
Zabrak would be good with there high willpower in combination with medic/docter
Twileks if you like to place music in your off time or dance
Bothans rangers/snipers
Mon calamarians weapon/structure builders
Humans for artisans or squad leader.

Thats one way to look, other ways is what species do you like, some would go wookie just because they are big fans of them, and get rifle skill and a bowcaster to go with it.

Every species has its pro and con, and then you either decide to go with a species because it fits the skill set you want to give your character so you use it to the max of its abilities or you shoose a species because you just like it.

For all you zabrak TKAs out there, even though you can't wear full composite, you CAN get into a full set of advanced Ubese armor. You can also get an encumbrance slice on a Composite helmet that you can switch out with the Ubese helmet for PVP. The only thing Composite really has over ubese armor is heat resistance, which is an attack you really only encounter in PVP from the FWG5 pistol. Ubese doesn't have bicep pieces, so a full encumbrance sliced set can leave you with some stats left over. With the right food and buffs you will not notice the encumbrance at all.

I use Ubese armor in PVE because it absorbs 65% of all kinetic attacks against me. The encumbrance doesn't affect me because I know how to get buffed up to be effective. I elected not to take master brawler and fencer so I don't have those extra defensive bonuses. If a high level mob is stunned, intimidated, and blind and STILL has to get through 65% kinetic Ubese armor to damage me, I win. I can still use all my specials and the armor doesn't slow me down one bit. With food fixed and doctor buffs easy to obtain, you tell me a good reason NOT to use armor.

Well I can tell you it's certainly not Mon Calamari... I found that out the hard way.

Unless it's just Mon Calamari, it doesn't seem efficient to use Armor as a TKA due to their ham costs (well, I guess its as much their speed as ham costs that drain the ham so fast). What you mainly need is high stats in that case... which is why I think Wookiee would be a good choice.

Of course, I'm just a stupid Mon Calamari (yes, I am proof that stupid Mon Cals DO exist). What the hell do I know?
