Thread: Is Master Doctor Really Needed?
Master Doctor is not needed unless you want to be a Master Doctor. TKM leaves you a lot of extra skill points to do with as you please. There are many places to spend them effectively.
Buffs are a great help to any character, TKMs included. If you're a Master Doctor you can apply them to yourself and your friends and also revive them when they get killed. You can also take some other secondary profession and buy your buffs from another doctor, or forego buffs entirely.
Depends on play style really. Right now I'm Master Pistols w/ the Smuggler Pistols Tree, medic 4, 2, 0, 0 and currently working on TKM. Have no intention of going any further with medic.
So far I really like this combo, and although I can not buff myself, I don't find it hard to get buffs if I need them. But I am trying really hard not to develop a dependency on buffs or armor.

It seems like everyone is doc, if not, tell me why? lol
For the moment...I'm a TKM\Master Smuggler and I never really desired to be a Master Doctor....I already have one on another server. TKM and Smuggler work for me because I get following:
1. Unarmed combat - a very strong combat profession
2. Some strong pistol skills - last ditch(just no accuracy).
3. I can buff myself with spice\powerboost
4. I can generate some serious income through selling faction points (smuggler skill), slicing weapons (500,000 credits is my record day so far), and selling spice.
5. Feign Death
6. Ranged KD + Ranged attack delay (lowblow + panic shot)
This template is giving me combat, crafting, and money generation.......doesnt really get very boring and it works for me...but I will eventually have to change this template when I am ready to work on opening my jedi slot.
I personally like the TKM/Grenadeer combo. I use the TKM for MOBs and break out the flame thrower for PvP.

Ouch. Master TKA and Commando?? No exploration? No Novice Medic? That must be rough. Where do you spend the final 18 points?

I'm not a doctor and I'm doing quite fine. The meditation line covers your in that field fairly well.
If you have easy access to good buffs ( on Eclipse it's usually 5k per set of 6 ) there is no need to take any of the Doctor line. Having only Novice Medic allows you to use some pretty **edit** good Stim Bs.
If you regularly PvP, you need buffs. You need your secondaries buffed so you can wear armour without feeling it's effects when you use specials. Powerboost, while giving a nice boost to main stats, do not affect secondaries and so won't help you that much.
I have 2 characters atm, and although my TK Master is a Doctor I'm dropping it and making my second character a buff bot ( yes I know, no flames please ). This will allow me to heal/rez/enhance and provide mind buffs with a support character and leave my main to specialise in all the fighting professions I'm interested in.
