Thread: How useful would CH be with TKA...
/sigh
i'm very anti-TKA/CH because the whole point of TKA is to tank for yourself. as soon as there is a CH pet available that can tank better than a TKM (even a smart tk novice)maybe i'd change my mind...
as it is right nowa smart tka using the tools given to him (intimidate, warcry, kd, etc) with cheap adv ubese armor and buffscan tank FAR better than ANY ch pet, and that is why i would say "no, ch would not be good with tka"
the only decent arguments i've heard against this is "pets are great for chasing kiters in pvp" (but mastering a ranged combat proffesion is even better and can cost less skill points) and "i like the idea of working with animals etc and just want to be a ch for fun, not because i think i need ch to be effective", and that is a great argument ![]()
I've recently dropped MCH and will soon drop the whole profession. You really just don't need it
at the start i wanted to be a master CH anyways so i had already got the skill i found it very usefull to get the unarmed xp needed to get to TKN in the first place and now at TKM i tank the mobs more than my pets but i dont use my pets for tanks nolw im master i use them for extra dmg and the special attacks that i cant do that i still find helpfull (ie: Bleed , Poison , desease)
also i use them for any extra mobs that spawn so i only have to work on 1 thing at a time.
as u can see i dont use my pets now as the tanks i used to i use them to compliment my dmg with a little extra and for there special attacks.
basicly at novice and doing unarmed i found the pets tanking ability to be usefull but at master i found i ended up tanking anyway im not saying it was easy to get hear as TKM even with a pet but it was easyer than being on my own.
lets face it on blodfin where i currantly am out on dathmir who is going to group up with a solo char who has unarmed 2 and is just after xp. i didnt get any help so my pets were a very big aid to me but it might be differant on other servers.
Vel TKM/CHM
I am TKM and CHM. I'm not sure how I ended up with CH because I always to be Doctor... The cool thing about this is that you basicaly double-tank. TK is still only good for two, maybe three kills, after which you have to back off and regenerate. With pets you can do that safely while they keep the mobs occupied. This is working so well that I can solo voritor missions on Dantooine even without buffs.
Even so, this boring to me. It's nice for making money, but there is something wrong with the whole idea. To me it feels like it is taking away from being a TKM. It may work for you, I guess it's a matter of prefference. I will start dropping CH as I pick up medic skills... to me, this is more alligned with the TK philosophy.

And why a master TKA-CH can't tank with his-her pets ?
I'm very anti generalization
and I don't think that someone who mastered a melee profession such as Tera Kasi will stand still while the pets tank.
if you master the CH then you will be very powerful if you dabble in CH you wont have more than a cowardly gurreck
this makes me happy too ![]()
It works and works well forPvE (which is all I do). As was stated earlier, the pets specials plus the monster ping-pong between you and your pet will decrease the damage done to you dramatically (just you and a gurreck will save you a bunch of ham points since you won't be trying to land intimidates on mobs, the cat will do it for you).
It's a good combination... maybe not the min/max way to go but you'll do alot of damage and have quite a bit of fun... at least I do.
I'm not a TKM btw, only 4-1-1-2 but can hunt wherever I want to. Definately takes different tactics being a TK/CH instead of a Pistol/CH... you'll get hit more but mobs drop ALOT faster.
In the end, do what you think will be fun; if it isn't, drop it. IME the combination is a great PvE template but YMMV.
