I believe the outcome would be Teras kasi as the winner. They hit a lot faster than the other melee profs, and even if the armed melee did more damage per hit, which I dont think it does currently, TKA would still win. But, thats just my theory based on beta play. Your results may vary.

soooooooo, how bout that teras kasi artist...pretty spiffy....anyhoo, I was wondering everyones thoughts on an equal duel between a TKA and any othermelee elite prof. Like two human, equal attributes, equal mastery of game mechanics,no medpacks, one a TKA, one another melee person. Thoughts on outcome?

TKA vs MOBs is pitiful.. They take 3 times the amount of damage than ranged does while soloing. Their downtime is far greater obviously..

vs a krayt.. lol you're the first to go down if you're melee..

Ranged stays up longer because they don't have to go near the krayt to attack.. stay back and let the melee'ers get KOed while you sit back and fire...

TKA in PVP is strong if you can get close, but a smart ranged player will defeat a smart melee'er..

This game requires you to have some ranged, but you don't need melee...

When I was on corbantis I made it to TKA novice. When I faced animals I used Unarmed lunge (It was a bug at the time) when they wiped corbantis I went to bloodfin, where It took me almost a week of fighting to get to master unarmed. I made a marksmen to test how I was with them. I made it to pistol speicalist in less than a half hour. So its a little unfair that it took me a week to get to master unarmed vs. a half hour with marksmen. TKA is still my favorite profession and I'm already on my quest to get it in the live game. That combo everyone knows is extremely helpful, BUT until you get master TKA what are you supposed to do?

i know you wouldn't know this unless you've played the game but as a beta tester i'll give you my 2 cents =P. teras kasi artist is the best of all melee in my oppinion. Teras Kasi vs other melee would make fora killing.

real ez =P Unarmed Lunge 1 + Unarmed knockdown + Unarmed Hit 3 = death in 2 hits and that tech will work on ranged people if you can get within 15 meter's =P all they seem to know how to do is run =)

How do Teras Kasi Artists fare against wild creatures? How does the whole clost combat thing work with a krayt dragon?

Terrible... The devs gave melee a giant nerf the last few patches of beta.

  • Mobs USED to go attack other players after they incapped you... But now, once your incapped, they instantly kill you, which is terrible. It seemed logical that mobs would go attack someone else, in stead of DBing you

  • Now mobs have multi hit melee attacks, ie. A Kimo can incap 5 TKAs with one attack.

I see it as a last ditch effort to force people to be immersive, or die.

you know, it's funny, but they seem to have put very little thought into what would make a melee character fun. granted, the basic structure is fun, but then they go ahead and add something like this insta-DB, and you wonder what's going on up there. as it stands, i'm now afraid to attack anything that size as a melee. my survival strategy becomes "rush in, attack once, peace, and run away".

and i know that the devs intend for the brawlers to be tanking. otherwise, why would they get a Taunt skill? why on earth would i taunt a mob into hitting me when i'm already taking the majority of the damage? and don't tell me to wear armor, either: the HAM encumberance on armor is an absolute joke, and my special attacks are already doing to much damage to me without it.

things are seriously out of whack in brawlerville, and the devs have been consistently ignoring our pleas. i nornally wouldn't claim something like that, but i spammed the subject enough in beta and never got any sort of acknowledgement that something might be wrong. my only hope is that Q's message that they'd be checking this forum for balancing issues wasn't just for show.

Buffs and Armor?

That makes all the difference.

With buffs and good armor the TK would lose.

Without buffs and armor the TK would win.

To me, PvP is based on 4 things:

Items: Armor, weapons
Character Skill: Your template and how far into it you are, TKM vs novice fencer
Player Skill: The ability to know what attacks to use and timing, this is important
Buffs: food,spices,and doc buffs

these are what make a winner and looser in pvp.
