Normally I would not resort to repeating things in order to get a point across, but I feel as though it is time to revisit this subject again. Partially in response to a constructive poster in the previous thread I posted with a similar title, and partially because this time I am drafting this post while my thoughts are collected instead of just responding to "THEM."
Yes, it is difficult to keep from calling "THEM" out, especially when their reasoning is so blatantly ignorant or when they so obviously do it to incite flaming. I have been guilty of pointing out their faults quite harshly at times, and have had the same done to me.
What, then, should we do? If the poster is asking for information or being constructive then most definitely debate with them. That is part of what furthers our knowledge of both our profession as well as proliferates our knowledge of each other.
But what if it is one of "THEM" you ask? Ignore them. What better way to get a point across than to simply not respond? Why debate with someone who is so stubborn that it is futile to try to explain the errors they cling to as facts?
Constructive, respectful debate is what we should strive to maintain in this Forum, so let us start anew. Constructive criticism and discussion alike are welcome, but let "THEM" realize that we will not lower ourselves to their level. That instead we will hold our heads high, proud warriors that we are, and simply smile at those who know no better.

Forgive me if I sound like I am teaching people to suck eggs here, but there is one issue I'd like to offer my opinion on.
Over the last few weeks especially, parts of the forum have been perhaps a little negative. Whilst constructive criticism (of the profession) is welcome(?!), there can always be found a certain element who drag things down somewhat. Without naming names, or even identifying exactly what type of negative post I am talking about, let me offer a perspective...
I am quite sure the Developers in particular do not give weight to the opinions of 'Trolls'. We all know what I am talking about here, and though it can be incredibly hard to resist, there IS a way of dealing with posts and threads that make you angry.
No need to flame, no need to react, just... Ignore it.
That's right, simply let it go. The pace of new threads on this forum is SO quick that in some cases, posts which receive no responses are lost to the depths of 'page 2 and beyond' in a matter of an hour or two. From there, they disappear without a trace, and there is no way of saying 'I disagree' better than refusing to even acknowledge a message. If the original poster insists on reposting again and again, to 'bump' the message, they'll just look rather silly, and rather alone.
Let us fill this forum with new ideas, interesting experiences, requests for help and more. See a thread you don't like? Post a -new- thread (don't spam!) letting us know something interesting which happened to you recently as a TKA... Or let us know about that new way of doing things you discovered, which makes your life that much easier! Not only does it engender a spirit of family, but it helps keep 'That Type' of post away.

Aye, I requested their locking or removal, whichever was deemed appropriate. Constructive criticism is one thing, those threads were entirely another.
Also, thanks to SeanStar for reminding me how the original thread could be interpreted by those unfamiliar with the forum. Candid advice that I thought of when writing the original, but never went back and reworded it. I should have done so sooner
