Ok, short and simple math lesson alongside some info I've read in other posts from the Devs about how the SWG client and server:

For the cases of this message when you read '5m' this is 5 Meters.

1m (one meter) is approximately 3 feet in Imperial measurement.

Take for example the current range for VibroKnucks is 3m (three meters) this is approximately a distance of 9 feet.

The Devs have written in other posts on these forums that the distance calculationbetween two players canbe off by as much as 5m (five meters) which is approximately 15 feet. That means that when two players are in PvP, if we are 1m apart, the distance that the server calculates is actuall >1m to 6m. approximately which is 18feet max. Just something to think about when we are complaining about the distance of effectiveness of our one and only weapon.

Krellian's #1 SWG rule for Jedi:

This game is SWG - it is NOT Return of the Jedi, You are not Darth Vader and you are not Luke Skywalker... you see someone you don't know personally - run, run like all the demons from hell have been unleashed on your gimp a$$!!

i actually knew about the meter thing,but what i want to know is.....how do we (TKA)physically punch something 9ft away?i know it is to make up for a creature or whatever backing up to their range.but honestly can you see an unarmed person even kicking out to 9ft let alone 15 that they are changing to.im not complaining mind you but it just seems a bit goofy.

oh and whats up with us always being at -5 or -6 even in melee range i think the lonly time i seen my onscreen to hit modifyer above 0,is when the target was prone but not for long.

Be reminded that the game will say your distance to target is 4m whenhalf your body is actually "inside"the object...

the conversion factor to save your life.

1 inch = 2.54 centimeters exactly.

100cm = 1m

100cm * [1in/2.54cm] = 39.37 in / 12 = 3.28 ft per meter.

america is still the ONLY country that uses the moronic "English" measurement system (yes..the foot was the measure of the current king's foot and the inch was the distance from the king's thumb knuckle to his thumbtip). ugh. used to be just us and portugal and then portugal wisened up.

I think that whenthey said"15m" for unarmed lunge, they thought it was a good number.. but half the time the projection differences are so horrible that your 15m can become a 5m distance before it even works.

Pretty sure the distances we're granted are due to latency and whatnot.

For all of you that think it is unrealistic for an unarmed melee fighter to hit an object 9 to 15 feetaway, must I remind you of the countless other melee fighter games that explained this. Punching another player who is 15 ft away is simply our Teras Kasi artist throwing an invisible "Sho-Ryu-Ken" fireball. I mean, if Ryu isn't the essenceof Teras Kasi, then I don't know what is.
