I haven't gotten there yet but I am thinking the same thing you are. Currently, all I need is 1hand spec and polearm expert - spec. I hope it's worth it, takes up a lot of SP that could be used for other things.

I think its worth it too.... but those are alot of skill points.

You get something like 3 unarmed bonuses with Master Brawler, add those to all the modifiers for MTKA and youve got one unarmed arse kicking machine (that can still be pistol whipped).

The unarmed speed bonus for master brawler is useless because it seems to me my speed capped even before i hit master TK. Lunge2 may be usefull, but I would much rather put those points into pistoleer. Seems to be working well for me and I can KD for 94 HAM. /wink

One piece of info that could be helpful to us: anybody who does have master brawler, please post what kind of range, damage, and HAM cost you get with lunge2 (both with and without VKs), as well as a success-rate for its KD ability. Your opinion on berserk2 would also be nice.

I've been a Master Brawler for several weeks now. I'm currently at skill levels 1/4/4/3 in TKA and a Master Creature Handler, and would highly recommend (to this point) Master Brawler.

With the recent changes I use /UnarmedLunge2 contantly instead of knockdown. My HAM cost (as a Transdoshan) are:

Lunge2 == 144

KD2 == 224

UnarmedHit2 == 55

I still can't spam Lunge2, but I:Unequip Knucklers, Blind, Lunge2, UnarmedHit2 2x, Lunge2, re-equip Knucklers....wait 15 seconds and repeat until the critter is dead. It seems to work rather well on Whites/Yellows. Lunge2 gives about an 80% sucess rate on anything but reds......last night against Mountain Squills I was only Lunging them 2 out of every 3 attempts (66%). Intimidate2 fails far too often for my tastes, and Bezerk2 lasts an ungodly amount of time (upwards of 3 minutes) but rarely fails to activate. So of all the Master Brawler skills /UnarmedLunge2 is the only one I use consistently. Being that it costs 80 HAM less than my KD2 I have a much better chance of surviving against the 10k/AL1 critters out there.....of course if my pets would take the aggro for me I could last even longer, but they are more companions and Damage-adds versus tanks since I tend to grab all the aggro......

However, with the pending changes to the base-costs I maybe able to use KD2 more often, which would effectively free up 48 skill points (14 from 1H-sword, 14 from 2H-sword, 14 from Polearm, and 6 from Master) and I could explore the Master Scout/Ranger skills (if you haven't read, the Ranger is getting some major love) to boost my MCH skills and abilities (with added Camo, Tracking, and easier taming). Or, as some have suggested, I could take a ranged skill for some initial bleeds and prevent the ranged-NPCs from kiting me into nearby aggro lairs (which I swear they do intentionally). It sounds like the Pistoleers are going to be knocked down (pun intented) a bit in power, so taking them just for a lower KD cost isn't worth it IMHO. Medic skills wouldn't be bad to pickup as well, but that's what group-members are for.......I was very happy to gain Master Brawler, and for the start of my TKA career it helped immensely. But now, as I close in on Master TKA, the power gained (other than Lunge2) isn't as noticeable and I may redistribute those points once a few skill-patches occur.

So overall, if you're just starting out I highly recommend MB......if you're a near-Master in an elite melee profession with a viablealternative to Lunge2, those 48 points could give you a bit of diversity elsewhere for a more rounded character.

From a pvp standpoint a 15 meter ranged KD is a ton better than any knockdown we have in the TKA tree. Master brawler is the pimps IMO.

MB is useful in getting to master TK. Intimidate2 is godly (1/2 damage for 2 minutes). Berserk2 is not worth using. +75 damage for 2 minutes? No thanks - I'd rather be able to use the odd style and not get my ass handed to me in the duration.

Unarmedlunge2 is great, but once you hit master, it'salmost requiredfor pvp. Once you stop experiencing and only pvp though... 48 skillpoints is a boatload of skillpoints to pay for a 15 m range knockdown. Granetd it's a great move and all - but those 48 skillpoints could be used elsewhere to learn a non-combat profession to keep your interest once you hit master tk.

The bonuses to TK skills you get from MB are negligible. +5 to this +5 to that in the end game is totally meaningless.

I too would drop MB if they just fixed our goddam KD cost - it's shameful how we now have 7disappointing moves - 2 unarmed combos, 3 pool targetting attacks that do crap damage for the ham used, and two overpriced knockdowns.

That said, it's EXTREMELY helpful for the road to TK master. Intimidate2 is the best skill in the game for tackling tough mobs, imho.

I wish people would hush up about the benefits of Master Brawler - I made a post a long time ago about how good it wsa, but then hushed up hehe... it is such a huge investment of skill points and a lot of work to get, it OUGHT to have really nice rewards at the end of it. But if we all start coming out and posting about how it has nice rewards... it will just get nerfed.
