Thread: Not being able to attack while in a run... give me one, just one good reason why not!!

Of all the problems with our class... I would think this would be at the top of the list. The more I play, the more I find myself uselessly chasing my target down, in the HOPE that he or she will stop running, has got to be the most annoying part about this game.

Since when can I,not swing at an opponent while in a run? I dont believe I ever had this problem in real life...

God forbbid if the blaster childeren have to stand still to fight me, I might actualy when from time to time... but no... they just have me either run away, because I cant hit them while they Kite me, or I die trying to chase them, and they never stop long enough for me to get a single **edit** swing in.

This Error In SoE's game structure has me avoid PVP all the time... I have no reason to even consider PvP unless its a Large scale battle, and I might actualy sneak up on my target and get some hits in before they start to run away and begin to kit my butt until I die, becuase even though I'm WELL within my fighting range... I for some reason, yet to be explained, cant fight while running... YET ... YET....

EverySINGLE mob I attack in this game can wack the heck out of me when I try to run away.... so dont try to give me this its hard to program melee combat in a run mode, because it would a righteous lie.

I just dont understand why the game was desinged like this. It puts ALL melee at a seroious, if not extreamaly unfair advantage VS a blaster class.

Anyway... if this is a repeat of some other large post, then I'm sorry I couldn't find it to made a reply to that post instead of making a new one. But I think this should be more of a priority for us than a lot of what we are trying to have changed. While they are all very valid problems that could use some changes... this should be definitly apart of that list, if not on the top.

Please respond... as I'd like to know how others feel about this as well...

You CAN swing at an opponent while in a run, this has been fixed.

Best to unequip your knuckles for better than 3m range however.

You CAN do both special and normal attacks while on the run.

1) Don't wear knucks

2) Learn to follow VERY closely

3) Spam the desired special

4) Once it lands use ctrl-backspace to clear the combat queue (if you so desire)

There you go, I do it all the time in PvP.

Latency is the devil. People need to stop spamming this in our wish list discussions. If you want to say extend our range for the sake of accounting for server latency that's one thing, but people need to stop saying we cannot attack while moving. It's simply untrue, I do it all the time. On huge creatures I pretty much have to take off my knuckles. If I try to get too close, they perpetually run from me (while hitting me) and it makes for an extremely annoying battle. The fact that we already have to take off our weapon to account for this is pretty irritating.

Sometimes I use adhesive mesh traps on creatures to prevent them from moving away, heh.

*looks around* **edit** I feel pretty dumb right about now...

Well this is news to know... I guess removing the knuckles will be my next attempt so that when I'm in 3m or better range, I might actualy get some attacks off, which would be better than no attacks...

That is ofcourse... if latency allows

Well, thanks for the info... to bad I cant edit my post to make appropriate changes to make it reflect a range change... but I think thats something Holo has laied out for some possible fixes.

**edit** not being able to edit posts is uncool...

Again thanks for the info.
