Thread: There will be a Revolt

I'm quite discouraged by the direction the "class balancing" is heading. It sounds as though every class is going to be brought down to a level where a master has a 50/50 chance of beating one blooming jax. Holo made the comment that they need to slow the progression down a bit because we'll get tired of the game content after reaching master (in one of his posts on our forum, i'm not going looking for it right now). Fair enough, but what about those of us at master - I'm going to get tired of dying to a blooming jax.

Master professions need to have some power so we can explore the game content without heading to the clone centre every five minutes. That is what will drive me from the game. Many areas of the galaxy will be off limits to groups of less than 10 or 20, and it's not easy to get a group like that together always. I'm not saying that we should be able to solo these areas, but its nice to have fighting chance of escaping or being able to bring a manageable sized group.

I'm really worried that other classes are going to get nerfed to balance with us - and I don't think many classes will want to feel like we feel. There isa good post that is worth reading, I assume by a pistoleer, on our forum (forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=teras_kasi_artist&message.id=12038). I can only assume that the motive lies behind having TKAs useful to protect his butt in a group (hehe) or so that his class doesn't get nerfed to ineffectiveness. He has some good ideas, and it's not even a ranting TKA.

The problem is this: If everyone gets nerfed to hell, people will quit. THEN, there is no game content. Once the population dimishes it takes the fun out of online gaming. If our reaction is any indication, it will be worse on other class forums I'm sure. ALL CLASSES WILL HATE BEING NERFED DOWN. I think the devs are missing this point somehow.

If they have to slow leveling a bit, ok, have KD cost more at Balance 1. Make things like KD progressive so that it costs more at lower levels and less at Master - for all classes. I for one will get tired of the 50/50 chance fighting of most of those creatures on Holo's list. At master, we don't need the XP so who cares if we have a bit more chance against those creatures. I just don't want to be scared of one screaming matrigue every time I go to Endor and running from the clone centre is the most boring thing to do.There is very little reward for hitting master right now.

I don't want to see other classes get nerfed. I think its bad for the game overall. Balancing the classes and creatures is one thing, butFUN shouldn't be removed from the equation.

/agree.

This skill balance garbage is BS. How does a game get boring when you max out in your skills? A game only starts to become really fun after you max out your skills!

If they fear that players will will lose intrest in SWG then they should add space ships and vehicles to the game ASAP.

I wanted to go into space not see planet bound skills nerfed.

A now useless TKA,

I agree with the original post. I'm a TKM and I see no good reason to remain a master at the moment. When players ask me if they should become a TKM I tell them that Master Brawlers are stronger then us at the moment. There is little incentive to become a TKM as our moves hurt us more then our targets. Our weapon VKs, hurt us more then using the weapons from other classes. In reply the Devs say we are still overpowered. The Devs suggest lowering VK costs in one bar and increasing in the other two. They do suggest a general lowering of costs 25 to 75% across the board. But based on their past history I don't believe them. I think they will go way below 25%. I hope I'm wrong.

This is my Lightsaber, there are many like it, but this one is mine.

Don't hate the player, get them to fix the game.

I fully agree. They are going to continue nerfing everyone untill skill progression slows to a crawl, exploration becomes impossible and the entire game becomes a repetative time sink. I already have to choose the weakest missions from the faction terminals to have any realistic chance of completeing them. With the direction the Devs seem to be going xp gains will be about like faction gains.

I played EQ for over 3 years and looking back, I cant honestly say I had much fun. It was always a matter of grinding month after month hoping the next lvl or next big gear upgrade would sway the balance in my favor for combat. Maybe i'm just used to console RPGs, but in my mind becoming powerfull and killing powerfull foes is the whole point.

This game was awsome in the beginning. It was like the best of both worlds. An MMORPG that played and progressed like a console RPG. It was just plain fun. Now its becoming another MMORPG grind where you kill endless amounts of creatures,... forever. Ive been a TKM for a few weeks and it was a fun ride, but I fear I wont make it through the change. I dont know maybe I just need to go back to the good old console games.

I think progresing fast doesnt make people boared with the content. For me it allowed me to actualy START the content with doing quests, tweaking stats and exploring. If you ask me I think making people progress slower is what will make them board. There is nothing worse than seeing/killing the same content for weeks on end.
