Thread: Defense acuity and COB ROCK!!!
well i think you are very wrong because , Block, counterattack , dodge only work with the said profession are weapons in hand these will not work with tkm if you are useing unarmed skills , ie swordman uses counterattack and carbiner u must have a carbine are sword for it to work
but all in all COB is very good i have it on a loop macro , o and defence acuilty does not work as it is intended to so this will change in the combat balance

I have noticed this too. I have a macro that keeps CoB running during combat and it is definitely helping and yeah some interesting animation would be a great signal that the effect is working.
Considering I use CoB for my fencer side and never for my TKA side.. CoB is great. Now for the TKA side.. it isnt at all.. Defence acuity is borked we have no dodge to double..

Defensive Accuity(the TKa ability)lets you do all three. It just randomly picks one. However, the "strength" of Defensive accuity is much much lower than dodge/block/counter-attack are by themselves(ie +100 DA is about as strong as +10 Dodge). It will fire only rarely even with Center of Being used.
That said, it is useful when you need to save your HAM and tank something very powerful. It doesn't give you much of an edge at all, but even the tiniest of edges can be useful in the right situation.
But, it is nowhere near as useful for TKA as it is for other professions, and as TH put it for our 19 question answer, it really is inneffective under the current state of affairs.
Personally I dont' the the DEVS ever intended CoB to be of any sort of use to TKA's. More likely that just the way things coded required them to give TKA's CoB, then they needed a "placeholder" to put in for its mod that replaced the counterattack/dodge/block of the other 3 melee classes... As before CoB it was really the 3 other melee classes that needed help with regards to "tanking". TKA's have a stellar melee toughness mod, that the others don't get. We in return don't get secondary defenses.

I would be interested in the frequency of your counterattack. I have heard that every character in the game (even a Droid Engineer/Bio Engineer) has the ability to dodge/block/counterattack, it is just an extremely lowpercentage. The skill mods (95 dodge from fencer) will not work without a fencer weapon or pistol. If they are it is a bug. My char is tk/fencer and I never dodge as tk. My dodge skill is around 110. Hope that helps.
