hi

i am currently just a novice TKA with only the 1st novice box. i got unarmed hit 2, VK cert and meditate.

i have enough skillpoints left to go up 3 boxes in any single TKA line, which i am mainly looking for to compliment the fencer side of my character. so i could go 3000 or 0300 or 0003, but i am very divided on which. i really dont know which would add the most usefullness to my character, woudl it be meditate or state defenses or acuity.

i also have some questions with regards to those things.

1. meditate.

what presicely does it do ? i have been told that it adds to buffs, or removes poison/disease or heals wounds. today, i tried and tested all 3. i realize that my skill is very low as i barely received teh ability, but i have not seen it workign at all, as in zip, zero, nilch, nada. shouldnt it do something at least ? it made zero difference when i was getting buffed.

then i picked a diseased vrelt (newbie disease capable monster by coronet) and let it hit me so i coudl get diseased. i got diseased and then tried meditate. after about 5 minutes of meditating there was no effect, i was still diseased. tried few more times with same results, i finally gave up after about 40 minutes. what am i doing wrong here ? is tehre some specific trick or something that i need to make this work ?

then i tried my mediate to try to heal wounds, again zero effect, even went AFK for about 20 minutes and still nothing. not even one point healed. i ended up goin to med center and doing it teh old fashioned way.

2. defensive acuity.

i understand teh skill isnt working as well as it should be at this time and it will get changed/updated during teh combat revamp. however, i have one very serious question that i need to know about this ability.

does Acuity work ONLY when unarmed or with VKs ? or will it work for me if i go melee with any weapon ? will it complement my fencer abilities ? or not ?

3. combat equilibrium.

how do you guys that have 2 melee professions like a real high combat equilibrium and state defenses ? (such as blind, dizzy, stun, etc.) ? is it worth it to invest skillpoints in those ? how do they come into play on a practical scale in the game on the harder stuff like corvette and geo labs for example ?

thanks to people that can answer these.

At Novice you can cure bleeds. At Box 1 you can cure poison. At box 2 you can cure disease, and you gain the powerboost ability. Powerboost takes Half of your base mind stat, and adds it to Health, action, and mind for a limited timeframe. Box 3 grants no additional abilities, and theoretically increases the duration of Powerboost and the speed at which states are healed.

2. defensive acuity.

At this point it seems to only work with VKs equipped, but some people have stated that they "seem" to dodge/block/counterattack with DA when they have one of the other skill mods.

3. combat equilibrium.

This would be your best course of action if you are wanting Fencer to be your main choice, unless you went to Meditation 4 (which allows you to heal all wounds). You will be tougher to affect by these states with the added bonuses, aking you a very tough tank.

I hope that helps

He laid it out pretty well...with meditate having 2 is great for healing poison disease and powerboosting...but if you can work it out somehow having meditate 4 would be great to also heal wounds and the higher your level the longer powerboost last.

Other than that getting the defenses woudl be the next best choice and could help you in your main profession.

i am a master TK and i have been for months..

meditate is fookign UBAH especially if ur into the soloing the high end mobs sort of thing...

lets put it this way... if i go and get some decent buffs 1500's or higher... then i go to dathomir... i find myself a group of ancient enraged rancors or whatever else is around at the time... and i pop me some muon + do my power boost.. with NO ARMOR ON AT ALL.. i can completely destroy them.. UTTERLY dominate is the word...

...

same goes for kimos and all that good stuff.. the only thing i have found i have a difficult time soloing is a full grown pissed off krayt

but even then... i just gotta work him for awhile and down he goes...

all thats WITHOUT armor.. if i put on my armor .... i become a friggin PvM god

BUT its a diffrent story with PvP .. as it always is...

in pvp if u can KD and dizzy in the first 2 attacks u win if not ur screwed pretty much cause they will jsut kite u

or so that is my experience with it

i would answer the questions to the finer points but the guys above me have already pointed all that there is to point out.. out

bummer i can go only 3 boxes up, now i am really very divided between a 3000 for the meditation and 0300 for the tankage.

Meh, I can do Rancor lairs without armour, unbuffed if needs be, although it tends to cost more in stims than it would in buffs.

Yep, TK's really my only combat profession, I have some novice pistol skills but they don't really do me a whole lot of good at this point. But, if I were to ever go into another elite combat profession and had to drop most of my TK skills, I would keep the meditation line, no doubt about it. As someone else said, if you can somehow get meditate 4, that's what I'd do. But, even without, being able to cure every affliction with the exception of wounds (and battle fatigue, which is still only curable by an entertainer) and being able to powerboost is still worth getting the first 3 meditation skills boxes. The other boxes are only focussed on fighting, and if you've got another combat profession, then you can do without these and keep the meditation. But, I'm biased because I love, love, love meditation.

well i went with the defenses.

reason is really simple. while in PvP, its really difficult to meditate while getting pounded on by someone.

so thats what it came down to, some extra dodge and state defenses +kd attack.
