Thread: Out of Range

Soa couple weeks ago I made master dancer and started to look for things to branch out into. I decided "Wouldn't it be great if the next time someone decided to heckle me I could really just whup their butt?". Hence... Teras Kasi! But in order to really make a heckler cry like a 5yo girl, I had to be good at it. I bought some mabari armor because I got heckled more stomping chubas in dancing clothes and set off to kill me some spiders.

The first thing I noticed was that as I got a litlle better, the **edit** things would run away from me. In different directions. Now, there's a reason I became a dancer, and that's because my hand eye coordination breaks the laws of physics by both blowing and sucking simultaneously. I can't handle trying to keep up, match turns, get positioned right, staying close and for some really absurd reason even spiders running away were able to hit me for damage as I tried to awkwardly chase them down.

Something had to be done. If I couldn't even keep up with a diseased nuna, how would I get to see a heckler go "wow, accepting this duel might not have been a good idea!"?

So I macroed "/follow" and slapped it up on my toolbar next to /attack. Now, when I see my prey, from a distance I pick my target, prepare, slap /follow, wait until I get within range and hit /attack, swivel my view around so my next target is viewable from the fight, hit tab to select him once the first is dead, /follow and /attack. Lather, rinse, repeat. No more worrying about making sure I'm on target, close enough, or trying to chase down and stick with targets. I just /follow them. Even if I get hung up on a generator or house (if they pull a tight corner) I can use my arrow keys to take several steps to the side without breaking the /follow. Once, when a bug let the **edit** probot I was tailing go into someone's house (and still shoot at me! grr!) because I was on /follow I guess the same bug allowed my character to simply /follow him right in... and we duked it out in the livingroom of a private residence. It works.

PS - to whomever owns the lovely cabin north of moenia on chilastra who came home to find probot guts all over him floor, I apologize. He started it.

This works great in PvP when the target stops as you attack.

In PvP the person won't stop running. With follow utilizedin PvPyou'll keep running after the enemy and not be able to hit jack squat because you aren't standing still.

/follow does not always work in PvE. The hit box on alot of things is messed up and you can be standing right on top of something and not be able to hit still.

Hi peeps,

I am Bothan and nearly TKA master, and I have to following problem:

When I try to hit savage humbabas or birds (e.g. giant peko peko) they are allways out of range.

It takes forever to kill them.

Of course, I try knockdown and warcry, but it is annoying me.

Does someone else have this problem?

Is this because I am so little (Bothan) ? Or is this as intended?

The answer is to use the 'follow' command as that will keep you within striking range (unless things run away)... in which case it does a good job of keeping up with them and tends to react faster than you might.

if it's out of 15m, foget it unless you master brawler, then you can use lunge2 to KD from 25m, nice eh?
I'm a TKM/Mbrawler and grinding rifleman, very nice combination if you ask me, lets me use my TKM moves at ranged, lunge2 if they get farther and rifles if they get too far.

Most people dont seem to know that you dont have to stand still to attack.

Initiate combat, then continue to walk towards your target. You can still do specials even though you wont animate them. I really enjoy doing unarmedspinattack at a lower level mob while im running around, makes it look like you have superspeed

So just dont stand still, it doesnt look as pretty but its very effective.
