Anyways I think this is a great template for defense, makes you a powerhouse with unarmed attacks with master TK and brawler, and gives you a little ranged ability for variety. I'm enjoying it so far.

That is an excellent template, but I would consider working in the dirty fighting line from smuggler for the ranged KD low blow. Nothing is better than stopping a kiting ranged profession than low blow. You also get last ditch which is a very powerful pistol attack with a geo pistol.

As you can see this template will give you capped dodge with very good ranged and melee defenses.
I would also consider dropping last ditch and another pistol skill in order to pick up slicing 1 in smuggler. This will allow you to slice terminal on bases and will make you very handy in the galactic cival war...

All depends on you and what you want to do.
that being said--
doc does take alot of points but if you go 0-4-4-0 you can buff yourself just fine and have extra points.
Do get BE clothes (i like the hat) with +25 to injury wound treatment, a 110 med droid, and some bivoli (food) and buy your buff packs.
With my other points I usually have scout skills for either harvesting (hunting line) or terrain negotian (exploration I think).

Smuggler 0/0/4/0 (The best pistoleer specials are in the smuggler tree)
What this nets you is:
+55 vs dizzy
+70 vs knockdown
+10 vs Intimidate (lol, doesn't hurt right?)
+55 vs stun
+60 vs blind
+50 vs posture change
+125 in dodge (only works with pistol equiped) (Capped)
+176 Melee Defense (Capped)
+123 Ranged defense (Can be capped very easily with a military BP or skilltape, or Aaukan ring)
Ranged Mitigation 3
Melee Mitagation 3
+All the things you love about being TKA master
Very defensive and not too shabby offensive.
