with the right armor, 2-3 hours, and a doc or a CM, yes.

A giant Canyon Krayt might, and I mean just might, be possible before your buffs ran out. But certainly not an Ancient. Its not an issue of you taking damage, with good buffs and food thats not a concern, its an issue of you doing too little damage to beat it before your buffs drop.
When I tank for Krayts, I never take more than 100 damage per hit, and that's without damage reduction food. That's well covered within buffs. The problem is not being able to deal out enough damage to it. It took myself, another TKM, a Swordsman, a CM, and a bounty hunter about 40 minutes to kill a Canyon Krayt. Just imagine if the TKM, swordsman, cm, and bounty hunter weren't there to help damage the thing...
either my armor or my buffs would have given out.
Don't try it unless you just want to say you did. Lets say you hit that thing for 1000 points of damage, the krayt is heavy armor so you get to split it once down to 500 and split it again to 250 points of damage. I don't recall what the kinetic resistance is but I'm sure its around another 40% atleast so knock that down to 150 points of damage. Krayt, depending on which one is around 300+K ham, so at 150points a second it would take you 33min to beat the krayt, assuming all those numbers are what I said. But, if you are hitting for less damage and the creature has more resists or ham, you will take much longer.
Oh yeah, hehe, never mind. Attacks that only effect one pool have lower multipliers, so how much damage on average for that... 600? So, with the reductions that would mean that krayt would take you 55 min to beat. Now, this is also assuming that you are hitting 1 time every second without a miss and that you don't get intimidated by the beast, or KD/Dizzy which some do.
Worse thing is, when you get it 1/4 down, some rifleman with his swordsman buddy is going to come up and finish him for you and get the loot, ouch, it happens a lot.
