Thread: Does this not make sense to anyone else?
I have recently become a Master TK. I was exicted to finally be able to do some PvP with my PA. A battle broke out in cornet and i happily jumped in. I know that ther was a danger of being kited but **edit**? First try see a pistoleer sitting there pumping rounds into someones pet. As i take off towards him he sees me and starts to run and shoot at the same time. Takes awhile but he drops me. Round 2. I see a team of a rifleman and a swords man attacking some friends. I am able to land a KD/Dizzy on the fencer. The rifle man sees this and starts running. I kill the fencer and give chase. Run through the city for awhile and stay at exactly the same range we started. after awhile, clone #2. Round 3 I exit the clone center and see the same pistoleer that killed me eariler now with a flamethrower. I really want to redeem my self and take off to the recruiter to try and get back at him. He follows me we start at 32 meters away and again i finsh at 32 meters away.
Now i realize that this was my first experince and i will get better with time but man. I also realize that there is a flaw about calling somthing in an online RPG unrealistic but in my reallife i have had the pleasure of being a martial artist, an army rifleman, an army heavy weapons opperator and now a cop. Therefore i can tell you with the utmost certainity that i am faster with nothing in my hand, then i am while holding my45. I am MUCH faster with nothing in my hands then I am with a M16 and i am barely able to run at all when carrying an m60 or other heavy weapon. Anyone else feel this way or am i just bitter from getting my ass handed to me three times in a row?
check my thread, i blew some steam on the Melee classes of SWG, add more if you can please, its interesting
kiting stinks, but it happens all the time. everyone plays to win so a ranged profession player is going to use range as much as possible.
i have put a special /dismount macro in my combat toolbar because of kiting. i don't PvP very much, but when running more difficult missions, Rebel Medics will kite as quickly as any Player Character will, so i stay OUT of the range long enough to target the Medic, FLY in on my Swoop and hit the /dismount macro i created when i am within 5-10m
the macro includes kite-killers like KD, Dizzy, and Warcry
it would me MUCH more difficult to use this tactic in a city with the difficulty of steering a Swoop in town, combined with lag, but perhaps some sort of burst run macro that has a delay at the begining of 7-10 seconds that allows you to catch up to your opponent, then starts the kite-killers. this would allow you to concentrate SOULY on steering your character to catch up with the kiting offender. i don't know, it it just a suggestion
kite is a four letter word
So as a cop are you often unarmed and give chase after bad guys with guns?
When you studied martial arts did they tell you if you see someone half a football field away from you, you should go running after them to put some Martial Artist moves on him?
My suggestion is you take some of this training you have and apply it to the game. As any martial artist will tell you. You own close quarters. But you lack wonder woman's bullet defelecting bracers so I suggest you do everything in close quarters and pick up some skills that allow you to close the distance.
For example you know lunge works from 20+ meters.
