Tested. Even a pair of socket and resist free gloves switches off your entire innate armour, I found this out the hard way fighting a double gold boss, and wandering why in detailed combat spam I was showing no armour resists at all
and couldnt do anything about it till after the fight. I took far more damage there than normal.

Just to confirm what the others have said, yes all armor is bad for Innate Armor. Though if it has no resists I think we should be able to wear it, it's not like it would be adding to anything.

If you can afford it cause you're a lewt hoar like me, then it's best to get :
kinetic layered battle 7200K 4800E 6000B +350 Health Enhanced
or
primus layered battle 6600K 6600E 5400B +350 Health Enhanced
why would you do it? Here's added bits of words of wisdom from the Swords forums:
Tweaking your armor
"But i'm a TKM! I don't need no stinking armor!"
Well you are right, and your are....less right. TKM grants the player an armor equivelent of 6000 which is on par with regular battle armor plus you never have to worry about decay. Pretty nice eh? There is a disadvantage to it though. As i'll describe in this last section of armor you will see that you are more vulnerable to a MLS jedi as other swordsmen. The flaw with TK armor is that it can't be sliced. Luckily for us the same flaw applies to Jedi. So if you get armor break on you there is nothing you can do to protect yourself. Regular armor now has the option to be sliced (providing you have the components) to reduce the effect of Armor Break.
The final and possibly most important note I need to make about armor is having it sliced and adk'd.
Slicing: There are new options for getting armor sliced from your friendly (lol) neighborhood smuggler. Being a melee profession I find myself against jedi a LOT so the most useful slice IMO is the armor break reduction slice. With the whole 3 tiers done you get a 75% Reduction in the effects of you being armor breaked. Since the components required for this slicing are rather pricey and rare the most efficient use is to only have your chest, helmet and legs done because those are the areas most often hit. Instead of having a 75% reduction in your armor absorbtion you will only have an 18.75% reduction . That's a big difference.
ADK: As far as ADK'ing, if you have it within your means you will save money in the long run if you can adk at least your chest legs and helmet. The decay rate will have your armor broke in a week of active pvp'ing.

I fight all kinds of enemies ranging from Necrosis, Krayts, Kimogila's, DJM's to the various Dathomir, Corvette & Geonosian Bio-Lab NPC's & mobs. You don't have to get RIS armor to do this but it's added condition helps, I unfortunately don't have a set. Just get your weapons capped & sliced & you'll be worrying alot less about the hard hitting mobs/NPC's hitting you as hard as you hit them. Even starting out when you don't have the full benefits of TKM innate armor it's so much better to wear a set of Maurader or Bone to protect yourself & then when you do get TKM you'll be stuck with 6K resists to everything. The extra 1k-600 or so points damage reduction helps, believe me. I keep 2 sets of armor on myself each one having similar stats to the primus & kinetic layers above both pre-cu health enhancered.
I wear my cool looking outfits when I fight enemies that are lower leveled that me, when I gotta do anything CL +80 it's time to pull out my armors from my storage droids & whoop asz. Of course you have to master swords or pikes so you have no encumberance wearing any of the types of Battle armors, but c'mon, you were going to do that anyways.

I agree that TKM is disadvantaged on the armour break slice, however currently AB slice is broken, and TKM users can now use the AB resistance crystal from mustafa, so right now TKM innate has a lot of advantages.
The big advantage to armour only if you can afford to ADK it is that general melee AA's are a lot cheaper than CA's due to jedi not wearing armour! If you're lucky the money you save capping general melee in AA'sinstead of CA's can actually pay for your ADK's!
