Heck, there's a bad game and several books with TK in a main role. Why is this being removed?
Why not make a 10th Profession called TKA that has 4 branches: Unarmed/Fencing/Swordsman/Pikeman?
Not everyone wants to be a Jedi SOE....

You might want to read up on some of the TK in the EU as well as the interview from the father of TK. It was a fighting style that was used to enhance combat abilities and not a single form of combat. TK and Melee will still be in this game but as parts of other professions. I am myself a TKM and have been for a very long time. I am currently a TKM / MCommando and use TKM to enhance my commando fighting abilities when 1 on 1 in close range. I personally beleive that the true role of TK in SW is the way they plan to go with this.

That was kind of my point with the 4 melee style tree.

Some aspects of unarmed should be included in the new Jedi Profession, not everyone wants to use an LS (much less be a jedi anyways). Also, I didn't beta test this in Austin, but if it's the way it sounds, there should be some more variation as far as the professions are concerned.I think there should bespecializations of the 9 classes, not just the same basic thing for everyone. That way some people can be more melee based or more ranged based if they want to be and it would give people a chance to have the options that makes this game so unique and diverse. That's just my opinion tho.

All arguments about the EU aside. I would just like to see a melee class put in as the OP suggested. The new professions may have some melee aspects, but it is still a slap in the face to those that stayed melee when all the rage was BH/Jedi. Though, I guess I may be biased as I loved my tkm. Walking around with no armor but still having it made me actually care about my fashion sense rather than what color my armor was.
It can't be just because they are switching too 'twitch' based system. If they can have jedi who wouldn't be exactly ranged, they can have melee. If only we could force Lucas too put some melees in ep1-3 and we wouldn't even have to have this discussion they would be in cause every kiddie would want to be one. Nah who am I kidding jedi and the allure of jedi keep this game afloat.

Here's the definition of Teras Kasi as stated in the 1998 Star Wars Encyclopedia:
"Both a martial art and an Order. The Teräs Käsi were formed from the remnant civilians of a long-ago battle which devastated their home world of Palawa, a war which involved the awesome powers of the Jedi Council. The few survivors of Palawa migrated to a nearby world called Bunduki, where they decided to master mind over body so they may keep the Jedi use of power in check. The Teräs Käsi are thought to be sensitive to changes in the Force, and Teräs Käsi Masters are feared by the Jedi. But Teräs Käsi are not generally Force users as Jedi are: Teräs Käsi draw internal, personal power, while Jedi draw from everything around them."

Exactly. When I first picked up my copy of SWG I only wanted to be a TKM. I loved the lore, and I loved the fact they was equal to jedi. I've always been fond of monks, and monk like classes. They are just so fun to roleplay. Jedi to me was the whiney Luke, or the dead obiwan. TKM FTW!!
Here's hoping they somehow rethink this decision and include us in some form.

Actually it's ok they are taking away our class. According to PvE'r jedi it 'wasn't very starwarzy'.

I agree with ya there. It's just a shame that they are destroying our (and other classes) to please the newbies who want jedi, and to please those whining about forced pvp. Some of those jedi are so damn elated about it they can't seem to show any compassion for those who are losing their class. Which is really funny as they act like they care about the community or whatever. No, all they care about is their class, and their needs.

Completely disagree with this one, the Teras Kasi have a valid history and actually mean something. A BH fighting with his fists doesn't make him anything like a Teras Kasi, that just makes him badly equipped.
