Thread: Help Wanted from a Tka? Please reply

Need some advice. I am currently a master commando but as everyone knows commandos are low in their defenses and high in weapon pwr.I now am tryingto take care of my minium defensesby using some skill pts in the TKA and Fencer professions. So this is what i'm thinking to do and please help me out throughyour advice:


Fencer being the best defense profession under brawler and probably in the whole game, I am choosing to you use more skill trees in their than Tka. Now realize I am not going into these professions to use any of their attacks and so it's all about getting a high defense for my character. Here are my stats when i'm done with the fencer skills:


Dodge = 90

Melee = 54

Range = 54

Defense vs. Knockdown = 50

Defense vs. Posture Change = 50

Defense vs. Blind = 10

Defense vs. Dizzy = 70

Defense vs. Intimitate = 20


Fencer 3/4/4/0


Total Skill pts used to obtain all of this for mewill be 60 (I have 81 right now)

All of that sounds good but it's not good enough for me I want to be obtain the best skills possible for my character so now I look into the Tka profession. Fencer being the heart of my defense I cannot under estimate what skills I can obtain in the Tka profession. So heres my problem: Should I go 0/0/3/0 or 0/0/0/4 in Tka and heres the stats for both of those.


0/0/3/0

Equilibrium = 40

Acuity = 15

Defense vs. Blind = 10

Defense vs. Posture Change = 30

Defense vs. Stun = 15

Defense vs. Dizzy = 5

Defense vs. Knockdown = 20

(12 skill pts used for this)


0/0/0/4

Equilibrium = 10

Actuity = 71

Defense vs. Melee = 60

Defense vs. Range = 45

(14 skill pts used for this)


What is more important to have? Over a hundred in each range and melee defenses or should I worry about the knockdown and posture changes with a higher equilibrium? As of now I am thinking that having a high range and melee defense will pay off, but I need your advice. Most fencers can take a tka so if i ever find myself fighting one what stats arebetter to have?


Thanks for anyone posting and I hope I will have a strong pvp character... one that people will under-estimate. And it would help me out you would tell me some of the stronger attacks a Tka would make, so I know a little more of what to look for in battle.

Defensive acuity will do nothing for you unless you are using a VK or fists only. Go for the melee/ranged/state defenses.


As far as that goes, the dodge from fencer will only work when you have pistol or 1 hand melee weapon equipped. Block from rifleman or (which melee profession has block?) might work with commando weapons, but you'd have to ask somebody else about that.


Ask around in the commando forum, I'm sure somebody out there has a template that has stacked defenses that work.

Rifleman and pikeman both have block, carbineer and swordsman use counterattack.

A commando using a launcher pistol can dodge, so I'm pretty sure an acid rifle will let you block. I don't think a flamethrower counts as a rifle though, it's a unique weapon like an LLC. Don't quote me on that one though.

This is really quite simple. You really really really need to goto Alakhazams and use the character builder, as I don't think you planned your build very well.

And there ya go, one point left over, and some nice defenses...
