Why does everyone think that TKM is THE profession? I've done it, it's fun, but you can only deal kinetic damage, making the profession useless inmany situations. You have no dots, and comp armor has such high resist that TKM is almostpointless in PvP. What gives?

Personally I like it for it versitility, it has many states, decent damage, decent defences and used properly is deadly, to many of the temps out there today are spammers, but to be a TKA in PvP and higher end PvE takes some know how (well at least to do it well).

"Everyone" thinks that TKM is THE profession because...
1) It used to be THE melee profession back when buffing was uncommon and super comp armor didn't exist, mostly due to dizzy/ knockdown and then spam unarmed hit 3.
2) There are alot of really damned good TKM players out there who due to skill with the profession can clean house... and thus the newbs and wannabe's all flock to it. Though the 1337 crowd don't realize that it's the skill of the player and the other template choices that makes one good as a TK.
3) Teräs Käsi is a much cooler sounding and looking name than "fencer" "swordsman" or "pikeman" -- no flavor in them.
4) Teras Kasi has the highest melee toughness in the game and thus make the best tanks.
5) Half the population dabbles in meditate to heal wounds... something I hope gets changed, powerboost, and force of will.
6) Teräs Käsi get high melee defense and almost decent ranged defense, which when stacked hits the +125 cap easily.
7) TKM have a low damage varience and are least affected by melee damage mitigation.
8) TKMs hit the speedcap automatically and have high accuracy.
9) TK, have a decently powered mind attack... and as mind is the pool of choice for anyone who isn't a Jedi... it makes us almost as good as swordsmen for doing melee to mind.
10) To the non-martial artists the TK animations look cool, and everyone gotta be cool-lookin'
(to the practical martial artist, they look ineffective, and to the performance martial artist they look lame as we all can do way cooler lookin' stuff than that)
Anyway TKA may have no dots, but I can still toss poison or whip out a flamer, or take out an uber mind fire stick of doom. TKA can only do AP1 kinetic damage, and so we rely on others or other skills like swordsman to deal damage to high end mobs.
Its a very complimentary profession, goes well with alot of stuff.

I don't think EVERY one does think TKA is THE proffession...not anymore anyway. It used to be the FOTM proffesion, something that changes from patch to patch.

only the new people say that, cause a TKM may go to eisley get some noobie clothes and ask for a duel. Most of the time its unbuffed, unarmored and so the opponent goes down quickly. And thats where the uberness of TKM comes in place. Personally i like using my 400max curved sword and using fencer skills
