Thread: If you don't have Advanced Ubese Armor, get some NOW (tested)
Well, the right components for good Ubese finally appeared again on my server, and I was lucky to get my first set of Advanced Ubese last night. 73% Kinetic Special Protection, 15% to rest, and vulnerable to Stun, Heat & Cold. Perfect for tanking. I lucked out and got 30-35% Encumbrance slices on the Helmet, Jacket and Pants (the three heaviest pieces).
All I can say is WOW. After some extensive testing against various mobs (I fought Kamurith Defilers, King Merek Harvesters, Blood Drenched Merek Kings, and various NPC's), this armor absorbs about 87% of melee damage. Utterly amazing. A 150 point hit in the combat window from a Kamurith Defiler would result in my armor taking about 130 of it, resulting in a 20 point damage hit to me.
I sat there and went toe-to-toe with a Blood-Drenched Merek King (medium armor, 50% resist to all) using my VK's and autoattack. I beat him without using specials after about 6 minutes on autoattack....only healed once.
The encumbrance on Ubese is quite light compared to advanced composite. I have a full set of max encumbrance sliced 54% composite, and the Ubese was comparable to that in weight unsliced. After slicing...well let's just say I have a whole lot of secondaries to spare now. I still have the composite hotkeyed in case of ranged NPC or PvP though.
Ubese is my armor of choice, partially because many of its components suit my "martial artist" look.
But yeah, the encumbrances are wonderfully low for the protection you get. ![]()
Yea, Corbantis had around 55%-ish Ubese as the standard for a while. The problem, according to my Armorsmith, was that good Axidite Iron wasn't around, and this was a key component in the crafting of Advanced Ubese Segments.
Now, all I can say is...hope your server has good Axidite.
Also, Ubese has Kinetic Special Protection, so an Effectivness slice would only bump up all the Effectivness %'s, not the special protection numbers. Pre-sliced for encumbrance is the way to go here, in my opinion.
My full suit of Ubese cost me 190k.
A swarming dewback hits you for 130 pts of damage
Your adv ubese armor jacket prevented 112 pts of damage
A swarming dewback hits you for 107 pts of damage
Your adv ubese armor pants prevented 94 pts of damage.
It really works well. I venture to say that with a full set of buffs and my wc2 and intimidate2, I might be able to tank a krayt... maybe?
Who made it? I'm on Corbantis too.

As an armorsmith myself I have been making 73% ubese armor for myself, and enhanced my helmet to 82% even with krayt scales. It's amazing the amount of damage that gets absorbed, you actually *can* replace creature pets as tanks like this. Ofcourse, don't use too many specials ![]()
encumb sliced adv ubese set 71% kinetic and 16% rest + effectiveness sliced composite helmet with 75%, without intimidation most hits are 9-22 (against most CL35 or below) which im getting except those "lucky" hits which bypasses armor... sigh
Wow! After the recommendation here I went and got a set of 71% Advanced Ubese and the stuff is simply amazing for melee! After finally dinging powerboost and getting this armor my survivability went up tenfold. Landed a 30% enc. slice on pants, jacket and boots, but got the damage slice on helmet, d'oh! Time to buy a few more till I land a good slice.
Cannot recomend this stuff enough, plus it colors nicely. ![]()
this is also great for the grind up the unarmed tree or any type of combat really. I love my ubese armor.
In fact i'm thinking about buying my BH one to grind up carbine IV.
Don't forget that there is also BE clothing out there that helps too.
I have been using Ubese for a few weeks now, and just like everyone else I love it. I also have a undershirt that has +4 melee defense/+14 stun defense and a bandolier with the same stats (You can wear both of these items and a full suit of armor at the same time). Basically this equates out to having an extra +8 melee defense at all times, the normal light armor rating from the Ubese and the high kenetic resists of Ubese. I also have a pair of pants with the melee defense mods, which offer extra defense when not wearing armor, but cannot be worn with armor pants.
I have also seen a few PSG's that have kenetic defense and coupled with the other items you'll be about as tough as an at-st ![]()
