Okay i've been trying to get to the point where i don't wear armor, but i am still getting hit and need to send pets in, is the point of not wearing armor because you are fighting NPC's and they are down on the ground saying "what the heck", or is it because you simply dont need it because you have a high defense already. I have been going out against pikets without a buff and with out armor, (and with my big white guardian friend) and still getting kicked, i am a medic, but still is it just because the cost of unarmedhit2 and healing yourself raises? or is it because it doesn't matter (kinda like hitting a lair) because the guy (NPC) your fighting is in the KD/Dizzy stage? I would really like an answer :-).

Im a Master Doc, so I never run around without a full set of buffs

I do have a full set of sliced encumb composite, and every so often I'll take the helmet when I know I will be fighting something that does a lot of mind damage (Stormtroopers seem to favor mind shots)

But other than the helmet, I rarely bring along my full set.

Buffed I tend to favour a bit of armour because it seems to cut down on the wounds and BF (I'm 0/0/2/3 so no meditation yet). Occasionally I don't bother with it, the only thing that seems to happen is I have some downtime waiting for my mind to regen.

Yes being a doctor really seems to downplay the need for armor. Before they nerfed the kam missions on dathomir I could solo lair after lair with nothing but bio-clothes on (and no pets.) For PvP I usually only use a high resist (80-90%) chest and helmet and have a macro to take it off if I can manage to get my target on the ground and dizzy. It's been ages since I've thrown on all full set.

The trick is to use an armor macro. That way you can wear it when you need it and one-click it off when you don't.
