I am working my way up the teras profession. I am currently 3-1-4-3. I noticedthe profession is played very differentby each individual tkm. I am strictly acreature fighter & I do notparticipate inpvp.

My question is, do you keep the vk or loose it and keep spamming the specials?

Many peopleingame informed me to loose the knuckles so i can spam more specials and loose the armor.

I currently only wear leg and chest composite with 78% ken and 55% most everything else.

One post stated wearing armor adds to your special movecost. I think that is a mistake and armor only effects the rebuild bars and does not add a penalty for specials. If I am wrong please tell me.

SO what are all you naked teras doing? Naked with no vibro, naked with vibro, not naked wearing armor andvibro.

By the way I appreciate all of the very friendly TKM that I have bugged in game for some wisdom. Everyone has been very polite and curtious. /bow

Thanks

I go 80% gloves and boots and if I'm getting hit hard I'll put on the chest peice. As for the vk I go by what I'm fighting no armor no vk armor I'll put them on, but note in pve you should be buffed most of the time so it won't matter much.

i am not as far along the path as some. i am 2/2/2/2 at the moment. i am trying to play the class as balanced as i can (though i think now that i may climb the meditation tree first, not sure) buti am also 99.9% PvE and not PvP with my TK character so ido have a suggetstion or two

first armor DOES in fact effect the HAM cost of specials. you see the more strength points, quickness points and focus points you have, the less each special costs in HAM. armor reduces these points when you have it on. somewhere in the official FAQs about the game it even states that you should not wear armor all the time as it effects your HAM...you can try this out yourself by watching the numbers that float offover your head. do it with something small like a gorg or a gubber so there is no confusion as to what numbers are floating off you. put your armor and VKs on and do something like unarmed hit 2. then take OFF your armor and VKs and do the same move to another critter and watch a MUCH smaller number float off you. you will even notice it with healing. if you heal yourself with a mind heavy composite helm on, you will notice the mind cost of a simple stim heal is outragous! all of that to say i would suggest that you only use your armor when you REALLY need it. you can rely on powerboost and Doctor buffs (if you want them. i have never used them before) to keep you standing as you advance through the profession

second, as i understand it, when you reach master level you are at the speed cap for attacking with or without knucklers, SO the only time you would need to use them would be for the added damage when you are just bashing a lair and do not need to use specials. at 2/2/2/2 i still use my knucklers all the time because the HAM cost on them is still balanced by the extra damage they do, but i understand why someone at the master level may opt to discard them.

third, it is entirely up to you. as you said the profession is extreemly personal and is played different by every player. un-like the blast and run professions, TKA requires a tatical, thoughtful approach to gameplay or you find yourself looking up at the sky thinking "well THAT s*cked..." you need to find what works best for your personal style of play. there is no one "right" or "best" way to play the class. it is flexible and fun!

Until you're Master, the best thing to do is Buff, buy lots of food to boost your mind, focus and willpower (Or just take Muon Golds.) and keep you VK's.

Heck you could even wear armor if you want if you're going against NPCs with guns.

But I went fromNovice Brawler 0-0-0-0to Teras Kasi Master in 1 week using my VK's, buffing, Muons and never leaving Dantooine. I just kept hunting Pikets and Voritors non-stop with groups until I was halfway into my TKA skills to solo on my own.

I typically use my VKs most of the time even at master. They do maybe 30% or so extra damage over my fists (167 max dam on the VKs - nothing special just damage sliced). When I'm fighting easy creatures, I dont usually bother. However, if I'm fighting harder stuff or missioning for cash then speed of killing is very important and 30% extra damage means 30% faster!

I amalways doctorbuffed and withmax Mind/Focus,my VK costs maybe 25ish mind with UH3. However, I typically pop a+300 focus 12 min Rhyscate (200cr a use) which drops the mind cost to 6 or 7 a hit .....

I always use my VK's. They're 190 max and do quite a bit more damage, on average, than without them. I don't use a lot of specials because I also wear Ubese armor. I can stand and solo most any creature in game. It may take me a bit longer without spamming specials, but I never die to creatures. Only thing that will kill you at master is Krayt or Nightsister equivalent.

It all depends on your play style. I'm almost all PvE, so good Ubese and VK's let me do everything I want to do.

I go without VKs unless going up against armored targets, and wear no armor other than a personal shield generator for the harder fights. If I go the CoB route I use VKs for regular attacks, but usually I spam specials.

At master I still use VKs and wear a full suit of composite. I use chef foods to eliminate HAM costs for specials.

Well, when I got to 2121, I decided to change tactics...

I am master medic as well, so I have my mind maxed, focus is 600, power is 700, all othere secondaries are 400, and health/action are 700. (I am human btw). When I hit the above stats, I decided to down-grade my armor.

I had been using 56% kinetic ubese, but it was getting expensive for just leveling. I switched to 20% kinetic mabari.. One of the best moves I had made. Now I am 2132. I am dodging enough as well as hitting harder/faster. I take less damage since I can take the target down faster, as well as being able to spam more specials since my secondaries aren't affected as much. =)

Just my suggestion. =)

I always use my VKs. If you can get yourself fairly high dmg ones, a quick slice will lower that HAM cost alot.

Armor is the tougher question. If your just grinding and fighting a bunch of regular criters, wearing a full set of armor is actaully good, you can take out all the critters by just using your regular attack, and so your downtime will be much lower.

For big mobs and pvp I normaly have a few choice pieces, usually only chest and legs (no gloves or boots on account as i'm trandoshan). Use ubese armor for pve and composite for pvp.

On another note, don't wear your armor while your not fighting (unless of course your overt), it causes you to heal slower and increases the cost of all your special actions (healing yourself, enternaining). Good huntin to ya.

TKM/Master Doc.

It may not be the best pvp combo but I can still kick some butt and I am very strong in pve.

I can self buff which is simply amazing but because of this I loose out on other things such as not being able to master brawler and get some rather vital skills with the warcry 2 and ua lunge 2. Overall though i have more fun being able to buff myself because i'm always ready for a fight, and although i may not be the top of the top in pvp, i am for pve.

Anyway, i completely buff myself to anywhere from 2k-3k which eliminates the health and action point costs for specials. The only thing that is of concern is the mind pool. (which is the case in any kind of combat) Health and actoin can always be healed but not mind (or very rarely being that a combat medic is needed).

Because i can buff i run around in a full suit of 80 kinetic armor with 79-85 base protection on all the pieces. Put it this way, NOTHING IN PVE CAN TOUCH ME! (mostly) I take only 120 approx. damage from a krayt dragon. Composite isa beautiful thing but it will really cost you mind.

The concern is mind. What i did is took all my attribute points and stacked my mind pool, then willpower, then focus ending up with 1100, 1100, 800. Being that i can self buff this is not so much an issue. After that take muon and ryshak to enhance focus so that you only loose about 8 ponts per special, and you are now officially ready to kick some A.

As far as VK's i ALWAYS use mine. I have a set of 2.2 speed 203 max damage vk's and they make a world of diff. If you can get good Vk's then by all means use them
