One recent poster asked 'what is there left to do as a Teras Kasi Master?', and a popular reply was 'Roleplay!'

For those that do roleplay your Teras Kasi Artist, how do you go about it? Do you arrange player events? Or simply RP with those you meet?

Coming from an old RP MUD background, I am certainly keen to see roleplay flourish amongst the TKA community for those that desire it, so let us discuss here what makes RP special to us, and the varying ways in which people either already, or could engage in this alternative lifestyle on SWG.

Leave any flaming/trolling hats off at the door, and come post your ideas without preconceptions. Roleplay = content, and more content can only be a good thing

i have 2 identical outfits:

1) all white (nice mood)

decorative vest, thin pleated skirt, white bangle, white metal bracelet, white sandals, white sunguard

2) red and black (evil mood)

black and red decorative vest, black and red thin pleated skirt, red bangle, red metal braclet, black sandals, black sunguard

i have a macro for each outfit that equips the outfit and switches the mood

and i roleplay a good/evil split personality

i talk to myself and other people switching from mood to mood... its funny sometimes... and sometimes people just dont get it and call me a wierdo

funny time:

i convinced this guy that if he killed me he would get amazing ammounts of experience with my evil side... while the whole time i was telling him not to believe me evil side. my good side told him not to duel me and he still did, at wich time my evil side beat him like a small dog, before my evil side deathblowed, my good side told him he should have listened to it. then i switched to evil and doubleclicked.

everyone arround me started cracking up... it was some good shit. luckily a doc was there to revive

Well, for the upcoming "Imperial Crackdown" event coming, I'm going to start poleplaying this way. I recently picked up Smuggler to get that sense of constant danger that they are supposed to feel starting in 2 days now. But, I want to be a smuggler with a little suprise up his sleeve. Storm trooper finds something on me? BAM! WHAP! one dead Stormtrooper. But, it wasn't through blaster fire. Just a few well placed hits. Besides, what better way for a TKM to keep an "eye" on jedi, than pose as a smuggler sympathetic to the rebellion?

I like to Role Play, but I feel it's hard because, I dunno the TKAs role in SWG. If we could get any more information, in our skill boxes... From our trainers... In monthly stories or any other TKA information it would be great!

One of my guild mates said, to me - "You say that TKA is an order like the Jedi right? Then can't you be my apprentice, and you can teach me, when i need skill teaching! Then we go around and role playing, and putting a story between us in your bio - And then on some points, i could fall to become evil, and we could fight each other.. all for deep RP purpose!"

I really didn't knew what to say to him. It sounded like a fun idea, and a great story for your character, and not something like... "Father was killed by pirates... been a slave all my life.. fighting with the rebellion together with han solo... i can feel the force within me... i will be a jedi soon.. bla bla bla..." But.... I don't know anything about TKA!

Reading posts and discussions here are cool - But I think our proffesions needs some basic facts behind their background cleared up!

Maybe some from the art team of SWG, who made meditate and the moves and other devs, could talk a bit about TKA pre history!

There is no mention of TKAs in the starwars.com database

I will RP if i get some more info on TKAs and who they were.

Right now im under the impression that they were jedi hunters/haters... Who did not attacked but just watched.... And im pretty confused about most details!

But I would really like to! I just walk around in black pantaloons, visiting cities, seeing places and talking to people!

Actually, questions on the 'Role' of Teras Kasi as they fit in the SWG universe were asked as part of the '10 community questions' that were submitted fairly recently. We should be getting updated on these soon.

However..

If you do wish to participate in roleplay, there is no reason why you cannot build an alternate 'personality' for your character, and indeed RP characteristics of the profession as you feel they should be. There is very little 'right and wrong' when it comes to background, but if you do wish to avoid walking down a path which may be contradicted by the powers that be, then concentrate on fuzzy issues:

  • Perhaps you belong to a secretive sect of 'fallen' Teras Kasi, who work within their own idealogy.

  • Perhaps you are a 'retired loner' Teras Kasi Master, who now rarely imparts his wisdom upon others.

  • Perhaps you learnt the physical skills of Teras Kasi from an old teacher, who died before he could pass his philosophy on to you...

The possibilities can go on and on, only limited by your imagination. Some say that you should plan your background/history before you start to RP, and others merely start with the scent of an idea, and let it evolve as time goes on. Either way, have fun with it

I'm a hairless half-wookie and I occasionally roleplay as one. The thing about roleplaying is that you don't have to roleplay your profession, try roleplaying your character.

Excellent thread Jherad!

I roleplay my Trandoshan TKM/Ranger as much as possible. I usually roleplay the Ranger side more than TKM, but the two co-exist very nicely.

My bio gives me a reason to be sort of a loner (Trandoshans are anyways) and outsider as far as T'Doshok society is concerned. This gives me the 'living off the land' hunter I roleplay, although I do have two houses now and a thriving hunting business.

My TKA comes from a tradition handed down in my clan. It was taught by my father (of course). Our philosophy is one of self-sufficiency. I'm strictly melee (Master Brawler/TKM) and use no weapons.

I simply roleplay with those I meet. As my business grows, I interact with more and more people. I have a reputation as a proud Trandoshan hunter among those I know. Guild hunts are another place I can RP in spatial, so I guess that would be an arranged event.

These are my RP views on my TKA char:

  • TKA order is destroyed

  • I was never a Grandmaster

  • I knew my purpose, to protect peace and stop wrong doing Jedi with my "brothers"

  • During the purge, there was chaos and riots. Our location was destroyed in a riot.

  • The Grandmaster gave me a Vibro Knuckler, which makes my bones vibrate so fast I can easilybreak Steel.

  • Peace is my current goal, andthe Empire promises just that.

  • The rebellion is anarchy and chaos.

  • I decided to train soldiers in TKA to obtain peace, but I never told them the true purpose of TKA.

  • I just want peace, and I will sell my soul to devilsobtain that.

  • Should the Jedi return, us remaining members will re-start our true purpose.

I roleplay pretty much constantly, my character is pretty complex, but here's how Teras Kasi fits in..

She was trained from a young age to be a Imperial agent, dealing in infiltration as one of her skills, and unarmed combat being fairly essential to her work. She was also in training to become a personal agent to Palpatine, something Mara-Jade-esque. The Teras Kasi was the way of harnessing her awareness to the Force - she could have been trained as a Jedi, but now all of that connection has been turned inward, and into the Teras Kasi mastery. Now she's an Honored Maiden and Imperial agent again, after some months as a criminal.

I roleplay a "businessman". As such I portray more of a smuggler/bounty hunter type than anything else. The teras kasi is there because it is convient that I am always "armed" even when I have no weapons. It makes my role of bodyguard, or a means of self defense easier. There is however a sense of wisdom, and insight that my character expresses that comes from the TKA lifestyle. However I never show any indication of TKA in public. Ever. I never meditate when people are watching. I never walk around with weapons out. I don't wear robes or armor or even the sunguard. I have a jacket, pants, and a shirt.

If it weren't for the lame professions badges. I could keep all of my combat skills secret untill it was time for a hunt. **edit** badges... *grumble*
