Thread: Unarmed Fighting and Ability Costs

Anyone notice a sudden jump in cost of ability points when fighting unarmed? Less than 12 hours ago it was costing not so much to fight unarmed. So i forgo all weapons, and today... It's costing as much if not more fighting unarmed

Just wondering if Im crazy or not hehehe


Correction:


Fighting unarmed is costing me more ability points than fighting with a 94 cost vibro lance


Advanced Combo Attack


Armed: 100 - 83%
Unarmed: 100 - 82 %



Improved Spin attack


Armed: 100 - 83
Unarmed: 100 - 82



Testing using a Special Action Cost: 94 Vibro lance and unarmed

Well it's not as bad as i thought hehehe. Though I do loose action faster unarmed because I hit faster that way.

Still, it cost little if anything yesterday

hehe i seriously hope that is wrong. Insane if it is meant to be that way, barehands costs more than a lance?!?! bleh

I noticed the same thing and its not a small jump in cost it is outrageous. Even just using melee hit unarmed it is costing about 20% of the ham bar. I hope this is a bug and not intended or this will be the nail in the coffin for TKM's

Yes yes yes, I was looking for this post, same here last nite, and this morning, am at work now.....I had to actually wait a few valuable second's for my action to build up, this was completely unarmed.

hmmm, I noticed this too. At first I thought it was because I had a speed buff, so I'm spending action points faster.

I think the problem was I equiped my hack at some point, later when I unequip the hack, the program did not clear the action cost modifier correctly.
Does anyone who never equiped any weapon also experience this problem?

It's definitely something new. I first noticed it after the latest update while fighting unarmed, not having equipped a weapon (since VKs and blaster fists are the only weapons I would use, and they're currently bugged to decrease damage instead of increasing it). I then equipped a blaster fist and lo and behold, was actually draining slightly less action than unarmed.


I remember reading something like this from the test center reports. A beta tester wrote something to the effect of running out of action while fighting an opponent thirty levels below him, and that's what seems to be happening now.


Either this is a bug of some sort or a horrible mistake if intentional. I sure hope it's a bug, because low action costs were the only thing that made "pure" TKA (by which I mean a TKA who has no other combat profession for damage dealing)even remotely viable for soloing in the current situation. This new cost is totally unreasonable.

Yes I noticed the same thing, I thought it was just me. Last night I could use moves and not lose action, today my action bar gets depleated using specials which is stupid because without using specials you dont do any damage you just stand there.

What i think really happened is that they added action drain to unarmed fighting, which is now increasing cost of action specials with weapons


Previously, unarmed use NO action at all.....when someone takes up Master Swordsman and spams specials with Unarmed, you have a ton of damaging specials with a full action bar and no action spent


IMO, i think action drain puts balance back intounarmed fighting before it got out of hand

same here, was fighting jagged fang on kashyykk and kept having to wait for action to build back up, while hers was climbing doubletime....

Don't get me wrong, I agree that having a functional action cost of zero for fighting unarmed wasn't really fair on the other melee classes. But now it's gone too far the other way; I'm using less action AND doing more damage by equipping a vibro lance than by fighting unarmed. That is just wrong on so many levels.
