I keep experiencing this problem.
I am a TKM/MS .. I'll be fighting fine with no armor on and inate works great. Then I switch to battle armor *AND BACK* to no armor later, and the inate doesn't kick back in. Im fighting naked even and see no absorbtion and taking heavy damage.
Anyone else have this problem or know a workaround?? Really annoying.

I'm MTK, M2h, MBr and the EXACT same thing is happening to me. We need some sort of on screen indicator that's its active too. I still haven't been able to figure out if my mod'd Tusen helm, padded gloves, or Mbari belt deactivate it.

Go to options and under "chat" scroll down to the combat spam options. Make sure that "absorb armor message" is on.
You can then test effectively by watching the combat window for your absorbsion messages.
Just and update on my issue, I put a piece of Battle Armor on and off again and it reset my inate armor I guess. Now it works, for the time being. Yucky bug.

Likely it's none of the above. I did a little testing with this on TC, reported it in the bug thread here. Short version, it looks like putting armor on turns it off, but if that armor never absorbs anything, it doesn't recognize when the armor's taken off. I've been fighting fine with a Mabari belt and Ubese shirt, armor still working.
Best bet to check on your clothes is to fully armor up, get hit a couple times to reset the system, then take the armor off. Start fighting naked, and put on the clothes one at a time. My guess is it'll all work, but that should tell you if something's tripping the armor switch.
