This is a small helping guild for TKM. (Note again: this guild is for TKM this means TERA KASI MASTER).

Reason for this note is I know I'm gonna get some people that are going to complain about this being realated to below master.

(NOTE:THIS IS USING NOTHING BUT TKM SKILLS! NO FENCER SKILLS, NO PIKEMAN SKILLS, NO SWORDMANS SKILLS! I KILLED EVERYTHING BELOW PURLY WITH TKM ALONE!!!!!)

I've been TK for a long time. I love TKM. I know and have heard TK being a horrible profession. Me as TK I was able to solo many things one-on-one (Hence the 1 on 1 part again). Things I have soloed as TKM are: The lvl 80 sith on the Force sensitive quest. level 80-81 rebels (can also include impreials). Level 81 nightsister rangers. And was able to take out a good 3/4 of a level 82 enraged giant kimo (might of killed it if I had good medic skills).

Hence TKM can kill things and kill many things.

Tip to help u survive:

-First off use center of being. This can easly halve damage and rise the chance ofdodging. Also don't forget to re-Center of being once it dies.

-Use armor break. Armor break does more than degrades armor. It lowers defence to the enemy. I have notice that doing armor break to a nightsister ranger I was able to do around 400-450 damage with normal weak attack opposed to my normal 330 damage attack.

-Use leg sweep often. Unlike the last combat system you can actually knock down NPCs more than once. I had to wait every 20-30 seconds before I can knock down my enemy again.

-Dizzy them- Dizzy in the hew combat revamp doesn't keep them falling down BUT it increases the change of a knock down. It helps.

-Explore with your weapons. I am Human female Professions TKM and Master Carbineer (TKM is better tanking and I survive longer when I am getting swamped by enemies with TKM). I found I attack FASTER and do MORE damage when NOTUSING ANYTK weaponsthan using a 300-550 blaster fist. Check with your character. If you think your doing crappy damage than unequip your weapon and see if you do more damage using no weapons. Every thing you read above that I killed was using no weapons while TK and not using my carbine.

-More off the wall tips: Get more melee professions. The more attacks the better. Pikeman has spin attack which helps A LOT and intimadation. Swordsman has berserk. Fencer has bleed. The tips above are ONLY for TKM alone but it makes your chances of surviving better with another profession.

Little guild to soloing:

Yes soloing is very hard but not impossible. I soloed a level 81 gurk lair by myself with TKM and Carbineer. I've soloed many things equal and greater my level like level 80 saltmynoks. Each lair has about 8-10 enemies surrounding it. Its hard but not impossible. You have to think before u shoot. (Also I never died when soloing these things).

First off: Have a ranged profession. It helps draw enemies away.

Second: if your elite melee profession use it. Center of being is god.

Third: Bounty hunters have the "duel stance" its exactly like center of being but for ranged profession.

Fourth: Have a pet atleast have 600 life. Having a pet DOES NOT help in tanking or support fire. BUT it is godly for drawing out the enemies one-by-one. If you see a lair or a base with 10-12 even 20 enemies, pull out your petand tell your pet to attackONE enemy then your get to follow you back (make sure you repeat your follow command many times). This will make the enemy your pet without alerting the other enemies near by. make sure get your pet to follow u away from the others or you might get the enemy group to attack you.

Conclustion: Having a pet is vital for drawing the enemy out one-by-one. without a pet you might have get a ranged profession and try to go prone and lure them out with warning shots.

Since the CU, you no longer need to have skill points or to be certified for alot of nice weapons only have to have certain combat levels to use them. As purely a melee artist, i still have a couple ranged weapons that i can pull with... the strange thing is, my laser carbine does about the same damage as i do with my fists when double clicking to save action costs... wierd... anyways... all i do i have my carbine in a hotkey to equipt, then doubleclick the npc...

Gonna have to check on the pet thing, but as a non CH, the low ham and low combat level of your pet would be destroyed quickly from the hits... especially with the low armor they would have... seems like a waste of pets, since i at cl80 can be incapped by a level 89 in just a couple of hits... couldn't imaginehow quickpoor "Pookie" (my mount) would go down, lol...

Other than that, nice guide for new beginning TKAs...

I use my pet to draw single targets from lairs too - solo and in group.

it works just great. best way is to get a position way out (100m) from the lair - then i target acreature andgive the attack command followed by the follow command. thats enough to draw a single target out. when the target is near enough i taunt it and start to fight. when in groups the others now start their attacks.i had never loose the taunt with this.

when soloing it was really easy to take out even CL+2 lairs this way. as thepet dont do any fighting and is not attacked at all, u can use any (even weak) non-ch pets for this. i tried it with a droid too, but drew all targets out on some occassions, so i would recommend using a pet, as this never failed.

Just a few notes and corrections(again for soloers with only TK skills);

This is what makes a TKA tank. Improved Center of Being is the key. Reduces your opponent's damage to 57.5% before innate armor is even considered (which itself then knocks off up to another 48% of what is left, depending on your level of innate armor).

-Use armor break. Armor break does more than degrades armor. It lowers defence to the enemy. I have notice that doing armor break to a nightsister ranger I was able to do around 400-450 damage with normal weak attack opposed to my normal 330 damage attack.

Armor Break doesn't degrade armor - the attack itself does 0 damage. It reduces the amount of damage absorbed by an opponent's armor. At the moment this is bugged, if you go up the swordsman tree to get improved versions of the skill you will get a longer duration on the effect but the amount by which it decreases opponents' armour factor gets LESS.

With the new action costs it may be worth your while to only use your big action-eating attacks while Armor Break is in effect and otherwise just plug away with Melee Hit.

-Use leg sweep often. Unlike the last combat system you can actually knock down NPCs more than once. I had to wait every 20-30 seconds before I can knock down my enemy again.

A knocked down opponent takes 20% extra damage.

-Dizzy them- Dizzy in the hew combat revamp doesn't keep them falling down BUT it increases the change of a knock down. It helps.

Dizzy decreases an opponent's chance to hit.

-Explore with your weapons. I am Human female Professions TKM and Master Carbineer (TKM is better tanking and I survive longer when I am getting swamped by enemies with TKM). Since the horrendous new action costs to unarmed (= no weapon) moves, weapons are now worth considering.

-More off the wall tips: Get more melee professions. The more attacks the better. Pikeman has spin attack which helps A LOT and intimadation. Swordsman has berserk. Fencer has bleed. The tips above are ONLY for TKM alone but it makes your chances of surviving better with another profession.

Pikeman also has stun, if you're looking for decreasing an opponent's damage output further.

There is no need to have any marksman skill to use ranged weapons. If your goal is to draw an enemy away a CDEF pistol and zero skill does the job perfectly.

Second: if your elite melee profession use it. Center of being is god.

Third: Bounty hunters have the "duel stance" its exactly like center of being but for ranged profession.

great post and thank you to everyone that has added their thoughts and experience...

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, 'How can we do this and not make another EQ?' We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen." - JULIO TORRES
