What if tka did more damage (less than swords, but much closer than it is now), what would the effect be?

Many melee builds already take it for defense, so that's not going to change.

Would there be less pikes? Pike has aoes and intimidate and warcry (if it ever fixed), which are very nice and would still appeal to people.

Maybe less fencers, but you could make the argementthat its better to take swords over fencer right now. If the fencers weak bleed and mob controls were improved or broadened it could hold its own.

It seems to me the bigest effect would be that people who want to be tka would be able to use unarmed weapons and look like a tka, rather than a swordman without armor.

I guess if most people single professioned like the old days, maybe having good defense and damage would make it the class of choice, but its not that much better on defense. People take it so they don't need to wear armor. More to the point people dual combat now more than over, so the impact is not that great.
