Is there a soft cap on these values?
Was wondering as with BE clothing and careful respeccing can get my melee defence a little over 310. If capped though I'd be better off raising some offence.

AFAIK no one knows yet.
I am pretty sure that 310 is no where near the cap as it would make COB useless. (COB adds 500).

COB adds 500...hhhmmmm.
With COB active, my template, clothes, attachments, and food, I can reach about 900 melee.
Their has to be some weird hidden cap that makes higher numbers less effective.
If not...cool!

Well the way i understood it there is no cap as such but you get less of a bonus the higher you go but it will always give some kind of bonus

The higher the number the less it gives back. Using cob it is likely there is very little difference between a base defense of say 200 and 300. I have not tested this, but it would stand to reason.

the point above is the exact reason i piked up doc 4000 to go with tkm and pikes instead of pi ssing it away on defences

Good point, the diminishing returns on defense can actually hurt you if you go for all the defense mods and forego other useful attacks or skills.

k, i just had a jedi do some swings at me while i played with my be clothes.
he hit me for the exact same amounts no matter if i was 310 melee defense, or 330...
so...

Hello Jeisyn,
In theory he should have hit you for the same amount because it did not effect your inate armor. The real question is did he hit you as often? Your defense should effect how often he landed a blow as opposed to how much damage he did.

hey Tundra,
I'll have to do more extensive testing for that - many more swings
i'll see what i can find out.

Excellent, I would be interested to see what the results are. Every little bit of info we get just helps to make us a better/more well played profession.
