Thread: Seeking Template Advice

Let me start by saying giving up master dancer is Not an option, so please don't suggest that.

I've got 106 skill points in Master Dancer. My RP makes TKM the natural choice as a primary class. What I'm trying to decide is what to do with the rest of it. I was trying out master brawler at first, but that leaves my combat level at 56 which is 4 levels short of being able to use stim Ds, for one thing and a health pool of 1940, for another.

Melee assault from MB was my best attack, but at a friend's suggestion I started trying out the 0004 line of swordsman to see if it would boost my CL significantly. I couldn't respec into the whole thing, so I've just been raising combat xp. The main problem is that because of the 4440 prereqs in brawler, I would only be able to take one line from swords or fencer, or a 0210 setup.

I like to PVP, but the half as large health pool combined with innate armor seeming to be off puts me at even more of a disadvantage for not having a full 250 skill points to play with combat classes than it did before. It would be nice if any double-elite mastery gave you a full health pool. *sigh*

Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated - thank you If you can explain why you're suggesting something and the pros and cons of it, that would be awesome.

You need a double elete mastery to pvp. There is no room to discuss this. Anything less and you wont last 30 seconds cause all the CL80s will not only be stronger than you, they will get a huge damage bonus on you due to your level.

TKM is great for defence and necessary to survive if you are a melee player, unless you choose doc instead. On the other hand, tkm does not do enough damage to be useful offensively anymore. Your high end melee damage prof is swords. Pike is almost as good and offers a bit more defence. Either one of these would be fine.

If you dont have enough pts to double master in combat, then I would consider going ranged and trying to buy the uberness by spending millions on a high end weapon to make up for some of your lack of skills. My guess is that a master carbine with uber armor and, say the uber carbine that is on auction right now (will prob sell for around 10 mil) might be able to take down a double master.

I can relate to your situation. It took me a few weeks before I was able to respec out of master image designer so I could actually hunt. The bottom line is swg is designed so, like in real life, we cant be great at everything. As long as you keep dancer (or as long as I kept image designer), you will never be all that good in combat and, unless you are rich, any CL80 will kill you.

/ I agree totaly with the CL 80 obersvation

Ifyour keeping dancer..... I would say eather pistoleer, smuggler or CM would be good choices mainly because they are good at rooting

and slowing Melee down so they cant get in range to hit you......also pistol proffessions have high DPS weapons and they use alot less action then most weapons do.......

Look at the chart http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Combat%20Upgrade:%20Profession%20Roles%20Overview

Tanking CL 80are the only player's that can tank worth squat you need the full 3000 ham for this.......

Damage dealers another tuff to do with no mob control couse they would come right to you and with your low ham you would die fast.....

Your just out of luck standing toe to toe with a full combat templated player....

sorry just the way CU is now days.....

TKM would be a bad choice in your case....

It's not a bad choice for a dancer and here's why..

You don't have to wear armor, you get plenty of defense (and CoB), you can enhance your abilities through BE clothes.

I would suggest you go with TKM and dabble in another elite profession, but not for defense, for the specials. For instance, in Pike you could get Intimidate, or in Fencer you can get Blind or Bleed, just mix it up with whatever adds to the fun.

As far as fun with a template goes, the worst thing to do is limit the different types of moves you can do.

TKM is fine if you want to role play one im not trying to persuade you not to be one.....

just informing you that against a CL-80 you will get wasted is all

Let me be a bit more frank here...

Welcome to the everquest level system. If you think you arent playing everquest you are dead wrong.

The bottom line is all serious and semi-serious pvp peeps are CL 80. The combat system is now designed in such a way that not only does a CL80 (obviously) have more health, more specials, more defence, etc..., they also get a huge damage bonus against peeps and pve of a lower lvl.

I am a CL80 and beat down a tkm yesterday. The tkm had powerboost and cob going and a blasterfist, and was using all his specials. I did not powerboost and forgot to turn my cob macro on. Even with this, I incaped him very quickly because of his level.

What I suggest is keeping Master TKA (don't listen to the nay-sayers, being able to fight in whatever you're wearing is awesome), and grabbing a couple branches in Pikeman. Swordsman has good damage, but without a full melee template, you're really going to need to specialize. Focus on tanking and avoiding damage. For this, I suggest pikeman 0040. You'll have pretty solid defense if you do that. Your accuracy will suffer, but like you said: You're short over 100 skill points from Dancer, so you can't have it all.

And really, you're secretly more uber than anyone suspects, because you get +7 Melee Defense and +7 Ranged Defense in your Master Dancer box. :>
