welcome to Tka the greatest prof in all of SWG, hehe, first off you can choose any of the melee professions to add to your offensive output, however swords deals the most damage, fencer adds some nice DoT's (damage over time via bleeds), and pikeman give you a nice set of area attacks and great defense to add to tkm, it all depends on what style of play you want but as you stated you wanted damage output so in my opinion swordsman is the way to go, smuggler is cool and can be fun, but if you really end up liking tkm i recommend dropping it in favor of a full melee profession, also when it comes to armor tka have what is called innate armor, which once you have mastered tkm will have a 6000 resist to everything and does not break nor do you ever have to repair it, plus you can wear whatever clothes you want in combat and always look your best, one last thing, do try and incorporate healing in your template, heals will save you 99.9% of the time in combat situations where more mods wont, all that considered good luck and welcome to tka post away with more questions thats what we are here for

does that innate armor come with the profession as you move along, or do you have to buy it?

You will gain Inate armor as you progress.

You get +20 Innate Armor from Novice, +10 total from the Balance line, +10 total from the Power Techniques line and then another +20 from Master for a total of +60 or 6000 protection against all physical forms of attack asa Teras Kasi Master.
