Thread: Any Melee template able to solo high end content?

Hey all.

I just got back from an 8month or so break. I really enjoyed the game, but not the Jedi grind, and that is where I was stuck. Realizing that after the break, I decided to come back. So, I am re-learning the entire game, as I left post CU, around the time the CU was first starting to be talked about on a large scale.

I left as a TKM/MD, as I am sure there are plenty who were. I came back & see that this is just about the worst template available for out & out damage, compared to the old days. So, Is there a decent combination, keeping my TKM/MD (I know it probably blows a lot of my damage making potential, but I really hope the up coming stuff makes them both better, instead of worse) to allow for some amount of solo-ability for CL80 missions, as a CL80? or am I stuck in that never ending heal cycle once I get a second mob on me, if I decide to remain as is?

Or, should I go ranged, for anyone who has tried a lot of ranged temps with the respec. I would just try them, but I gave all of my cash away to friends before I left, so I have nothing to buy decent weapons with. If ranged is the answer to solo-ability for high level content, is there a decent template?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, answers, etc.

TKM/Mdoc is perfectly good at soloing level 80 missions and I'm not sure any template will consistantly solo high end content ( beyond a Jedi using avoid incap ). The important thing for you is to aquire a new weapon (Katarn Knucklers quest reward are a popular choice) and remember it WILL be slow compared to pre-CU.

TKM/Pike Doc 4000, Melee Speed Tree from FS Skills

WIth this template, i can take on any lvl 80 easily, justthe othernight i tanked and killed 8 lvl82 Bols while doing missions. Grouping is really exciting, and fun, but if you must solo, bring a gun with you to pull the targets.

I.e. pull out an adv laser rifle, hit the mob from 65m, run behind a tree, kill. Generally i can take up to lvl 86 without seeing any near fatal issues (1 on 1). When they start turning purple though, make sure your in a group.

Best thing to do though, in all honesty, find a group of people you like playing with and have tactics that fit your play style. I usually hunt with one jedi and one master sword/tkm. We can usually take on any content in the game with proper tactics. (i.e. don't agro everything that moves, focus on one target, keep eachother alive, know when to bail).

Oh, and welcome back, i took a good 5 month hiatis myself, "unlearning what i had learned" was quite easy, considiering i totally forgot how to play lol.

My 2 cr worth.

Thank you for the information. I will stick with what I have & maybe pick up some sword, but I am sure I will have to just drop it for FS items. Or can you save all the FS XP (7.35 Million I think for the 6bars, minus the initial box) & just train it all as soon as the trees come up?

Thanks again for the information.

TKM / MSword / 4xxx Doc can easily solo CL82> content (meaning, you're in no danger from dying if you pull them correctly, and they only take a few minutes a piece).

With CL83 and upwards, in my experience, the problem is that it just takes too long to bring them down - I have a pretty crappy PH (to be honest) and a CL84 creature seems like it would take 10-15+ mins to bring down, and at that point it's hardly worth the time unless you get some really good drop (which you seldom do). Armor Break is your friend at these levels, and watch your action/mind pools.

CL85-86and higher is probably not soloable without a really good weapon, lots of food and stimpacks - you have no roots and only one KD with the template mentioned-also, they hit for too much at those levels and you for too little.

A few remarks:

- You can bank all your FS xp and train all the skills at the same time.

- The damage you do each time you hitis determined byseveral factors: your CL,your weapon, the specials you have, your accuracy, and the target's defenses and CL. The Katarn knuckler is the only TK weapon worth using. As a TKM + Master doc, you have low accuracy and not many high-damage specials. You will be hard to kill, and you will be a valuable addition to any group, but killing anything solowill take you a while. As mentioned by somebody else, TKM + Master Swords + Doc 4000 seems to be a better compromise; you don't loose much in healing ability, you gain some melee defense, and you gain a lot in terms of damage dealing (Master Swords gives you several high-damage specials and a lot more accuracy). Swords is a "natural" complement to TK because TK requires the 2-handed brawler tree.

- Not all CL8x creatures and NPC's are equal. There are "regular" NPC's and creatures, and "elite" NPC's and creatures. A CL82 Bol is much easier to kill than a CL82 Avatar Guard. For that matter, a CL84 NightsisterStalker is much easier to kill than a CL82 Avatar Guard. With my template, I can solo a NS Stalker without any problem.

- If you want to solo CL8x missions, you can use a droid to pull a single target at a time. It works very well.

- If you're impatient to finish the FS grind, you should forget about soloing altogether. You will accumulate XP MUCH faster in a group.

Im TKM/MCM.

I just took a l85 NS Sentinal and 2 l77 NS Sentries, killed sentinal and first sentry, another sentry came just before first died, then had second snetry about half dead whne they finally incapped me and ran away cause i ran out of mind.

And knuckles of the katarn isnt the only decent TK weapon. Im using an unsliced necrosis nightblade right now and i do just fine. Katarn is definately better, but i dont wanna bio link it till i have fully sliced . Heck, I even go totally unarmed sometimes.

True, but the Nightblade is random loot, not particularly easy to get, and the stats vary from one to the next.
