Thread: Any Melee template able to solo high end content?
I just got back from an 8month or so break. I really enjoyed the game, but not the Jedi grind, and that is where I was stuck. Realizing that after the break, I decided to come back. So, I am re-learning the entire game, as I left post CU, around the time the CU was first starting to be talked about on a large scale.
I left as a TKM/MD, as I am sure there are plenty who were. I came back & see that this is just about the worst template available for out & out damage, compared to the old days. So, Is there a decent combination, keeping my TKM/MD (I know it probably blows a lot of my damage making potential, but I really hope the up coming stuff makes them both better, instead of worse) to allow for some amount of solo-ability for CL80 missions, as a CL80? or am I stuck in that never ending heal cycle once I get a second mob on me, if I decide to remain as is?
Or, should I go ranged, for anyone who has tried a lot of ranged temps with the respec. I would just try them, but I gave all of my cash away to friends before I left, so I have nothing to buy decent weapons with. If ranged is the answer to solo-ability for high level content, is there a decent template?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, answers, etc.

Thanks again for the information.
TKM / MSword / 4xxx Doc can easily solo CL82> content (meaning, you're in no danger from dying if you pull them correctly, and they only take a few minutes a piece).
With CL83 and upwards, in my experience, the problem is that it just takes too long to bring them down - I have a pretty crappy PH (to be honest) and a CL84 creature seems like it would take 10-15+ mins to bring down, and at that point it's hardly worth the time unless you get some really good drop (which you seldom do). Armor Break is your friend at these levels, and watch your action/mind pools.
CL85-86and higher is probably not soloable without a really good weapon, lots of food and stimpacks - you have no roots and only one KD with the template mentioned-also, they hit for too much at those levels and you for too little.
A few remarks:
- You can bank all your FS xp and train all the skills at the same time.
- The damage you do each time you hitis determined byseveral factors: your CL,your weapon, the specials you have, your accuracy, and the target's defenses and CL. The Katarn knuckler is the only TK weapon worth using. As a TKM + Master doc, you have low accuracy and not many high-damage specials. You will be hard to kill, and you will be a valuable addition to any group, but killing anything solowill take you a while. As mentioned by somebody else, TKM + Master Swords + Doc 4000 seems to be a better compromise; you don't loose much in healing ability, you gain some melee defense, and you gain a lot in terms of damage dealing (Master Swords gives you several high-damage specials and a lot more accuracy). Swords is a "natural" complement to TK because TK requires the 2-handed brawler tree.
- Not all CL8x creatures and NPC's are equal. There are "regular" NPC's and creatures, and "elite" NPC's and creatures. A CL82 Bol is much easier to kill than a CL82 Avatar Guard. For that matter, a CL84 NightsisterStalker is much easier to kill than a CL82 Avatar Guard. With my template, I can solo a NS Stalker without any problem.
- If you want to solo CL8x missions, you can use a droid to pull a single target at a time. It works very well.
- If you're impatient to finish the FS grind, you should forget about soloing altogether. You will accumulate XP MUCH faster in a group.

True, but the Nightblade is random loot, not particularly easy to get, and the stats vary from one to the next.
