Only when necessary. In cases like piket hunting I'll pretty much tank for the group I'm with. I use my vks after I intimidate the pikets. Intimidation causes your opponent to not attack you as ofter thereby letting me use my vk to hit it harder and faster than it's hitting me.

i was under the assumption that unarmed was faster then ANY vibro (sliced or unsliced) and that equipping a damaged sliced vibro with an attack speed of.. say.. 2.3.. with 175 damage really wouldn't pay since you can hit over twice as fast as that bare handed.

This really should be true! But from what I see its not. I hit much faster with vibros equipped. Maybe at some point when my speed gets higher i will speed cap with both unarmed and armed with vibros. Any TKMs that can confirm this? Do vibros and unarmed hit at the same rate for you? What about specials?

The attack rate is the same for me with or without the VK. Only difference for me is that my mind gets wasted a hole lot quicker.

Oh by the way, where did you grind out so much xp. Ive had the game for 2 months and still haven;t acheived master. I screw around a lot but even when Im xping I seem to die way to quickly.

i remember a point around where you are thinkin' that i seemed to get worse instead of better. it was kinda strange and VERY discouraging. i trained power line and that kinda helped (well.. it it let me retitle, which made me feel better anyway) and spent most of my student training on talus, since there was a tk trainer in dearic, and the master lines i spent on endor with a commando (love them guys, unless the flame thrower is pointed at me)

i guess my real question concerns the speed cap. which prevails ?... yourvibro speedor your skill ability ?

As of right now if you have at LEAST tk expert your fists are just as fast as a VK and vice versa. There is no difference till they take the 1 second speed cap down to .5 ... With or without a vk if your VK is under 2.0 speed then your fists and your vk are the same. Now dmg wise that could go either way depending where you are in the skill tree.

If you use VKs you MAY see a bit dmg difference. Right now i use a 2.1 speed 45-176 dmg VK and i hit on AVERAGE 400 dmg. It verys from 300 to 495 or so. With my fists i hit for a steady 285 or so. BUT the change off is with my current HAM setup, i can SPAM specials and my HAM hardly moves, now with my VK if i were to spam specials id kill myself.

So i guess it depends on what your doing. If im stacking debuffs and using specials i use my fists. If im just letting my char auto attack then i equip my VKs.

Its a situational deal atm. But to reiterate what the poster was asking, as of right now with the current set up, a VK of 2.0 speed or thereabouts is the same speed as your bare fists. There is no speed difference. Now once theymove the speed cap to .5 second then you will see a difference.

I have not got to TKM yet, But have power 4.

When I got to this point, I did stop using VK's. I always thought they would be required, but at power 4 you do enough damage to survice without using them.

The only time I use them now is if the target (usually matriac bantha, as still getting xp) has light armour rating and resists. But using them really kills your ham bars. With the VKs I can usually kill them, without I hardly damage them by the time my ham bars are gone. Luckily I always carry stimpacks and muon gold.

With those kind of opponents its a tradeoff. Start your attack with debuffs and no VK's. Once all the debuffs are stacked on then equip your knux and pound on her.

There is always a way around things in SWGs. So in saying that, there is a way to use your VK, all the time. It's just that you have to figure it out. Here is a little hint. What does VK do when you weild it on and start hitting mobs. It reduces your HAM considerably. Now to compensate this, you would need to increase your HAM. How does one increase Heath, Action, and other 4 stats? How does one increase mind, focus and willpower(MFW)? Lots of spices and food out there that will increase your MFW(Muon Gold comes to mind).

I use my VK all the time and I do more damage than a commando does per round. Just a little hint to help you guys out. I don't want to throw away the whole picture because figuring out is the most fun part about any game. GoodLuck.

Yup - Muon (and a nearby doctor) gives you the ability to spam unarmed hit 3 and with good vibros you can easily be doing 2k+ damage per second. Just be careful because that mob you're beating on will take exception to that. Make that 2 doctors.
