Alot of folk ask what my temp is and I tell them Master Rifleman, TKM
They say thats not good beacuse the ranged/melee doesnt work well.
I see alot fo TKM' s here with MSwords, is this because of the added Melee defense you get? or is there something more you get when you master two melee profs, versus one ranged one melee.
I hardly use rifleman, so for me to drop and go swords or some other melee prof wouldnt kill me(other than losing my CL80 for a bit..lol)
As always any opinions, suggestions are greatly appreciated..
May the Force be with you!

I think it all comes down to more skills for the same amount of points. To master a ranged and melee you need 2 15 point novice skills, if you stick with either allranged or all melee you can put those points back into more usable specials, or better healing. I was a master pistoleer/TKM for a bit, this didn't allow me to get into doc, and only novice CM. I'm now picking up my first melee love, pikeman, and I can master it and have doc 4000, the specials from each melee profession can be used with the other's weapons, unlike a melee/ranged template. Of course I get a yucky FotM tag with it, but you got to take the good with the bad

I found ranged and melee works quite well actually. A mix kinda reduces your output, but increases effectivness.
1v1 PvP - Fighting a ranged profession, You have your TK out to start. He roots you. you can't do much. Mind you TK defences keep him back long enough for root to wear off. But you have a Nice rifle behind you, take that out.
It reduces the root time. damage him up. get close Tk him up again....Wash rinse repeat.
I used to be Master Rifleman/Master Swords. worked well for me. Melee is where i started so im gonna keep it that way...Which explains my template which i greatly like....I have no problem against ranged with it.

Depends what you want to do. I know a Carbineer/TKA whose M.O. is that she does ranged attacks to start with, and then if something is stupid enough to get into HTH combat with her, she drops the gun, COBs, and away she goes tanking. Basically she uses the Carbine for offense and the TKA to protect herself when things get too close. It seems to work well for her.
I'd say in this kind of case, play the way you want. If you like TKA/Rifle and it is fun for you -- do it. Don't worry what other people say is "effective."

I am also a master rifleman / TKM and I like the possibilities I have. Sometimes I use only rifles, but if creatures get too close TK is very handy then. I have been the rifleman for a long time and for some reason I cannot give it up
I trained TK just for curiosity, and I like that profession too!
I would also encourage you to find your own style of playing. If you are not looking for the best tankingtemplate or the most poweful ranged tamplate, your current template is just fine. The most important thing is that you like it.
