Thread: couple questions on speed and tanking

Hey folks, couple questions for ya. I understand the speed cap on a weapon is 1.00 modded spd. My speed modifier is +130, no tapes, and my spd on my damage slicedKoK'sis about 1.23. anyoneknow ofa calculator or know how much more I would need from ca's to cap it?


Also, a question on tanking. I have real problems holding agro in pve. As we all know the tkm damage output for pve is abysmal compared to other professions. So my friends, doing more damage, pull the agro from me. Taunt usually works, except that it typically wears off a couple seconds before the timer for it is ready again. Any thoughts here, or something I could do differently w/o a template change? My template is TKM/M-Smuggler/M-Brawler/swords 0030


I must say however tkm rocks for pvp. should I be using specials or just /meleehit? As my modded dps on my damage sliced knucks exceeds 650 with Pup. On my speed sliced knucks they are 685 dps with Pup, but action goes way too fast. Any thoughts/suggestions would be great

I think there's not much we can do to hold agro permanently, and I think that's how they want it. The system will neven be designed so that people can 100% flawlessly dominate. So you just have to grab it back ASAP. I find that sometimes I just hold agro, others I lose it at some point. Do as much damage as you can and hope for the best.

Aye, but with us supposedly being the primary tanking proff,one would like to think we'd be better at holding agro :/

I rarely have problems holding agro...if the group im in has that much dmg that they yank it from me after i /sweep/hit/hit/taunt then the creature will die b4 it can make it to the nearest high dps person lol. Now, if on the other hand u mean High end content...maybe a kryat? then u have to moderate the group damg and coordinate....i learned how to do this when i took an swg break for EQ2....in that game just cuz u CAN do that much dmg in a few seconds....doesnt really mean its a great idea....


that is when u get a bounce effect like, rifles gets agro, healer heals rifles, healer gets agro, healer heals self and whole time tank is trying like mad man to get agro back....usually that is when the party would die (putting swg prof. in place of eq prof)


If your having a hard time keeping the agro and the group is suffering, dieing, runnin around like crazy people then try to get your group to cooperate with you as the master tank. Make sure that you are pulling...first hit helps, kd right away, then u can get some hits and a taunt before the critter has a chance to melee range ur dps group mates. Taunt as soon as its available and try to cooperate and you should do great.

swordsman docs hold aggro far better. spam aoe taunt, nuke yourself with heals. aint nobody pulling nothin off u.

cool, thx guys. and one more thing. anyone know how to calculate our spd cap post-cu? or does it now just depend on the spd of the weapon used?

get your modded speed at 1.5 and under, u will attack once per second

hmm, think its at 1.3 or so, least on my spd sliced knucks. cool +130 unarmed spd with no tapes

ive gotten the necrosis nightblade down to 0.68 speed, now i dont know about you guys but with only speed slice and speed pup thats as fast as i can see it getting, and yes people die in about6 seconds or less if they dont have 1k heals, the dps is over 800, but again it drains action, but with just melee hit its great for grinding and for getting in those specials very quickly. ima tkm master swords though and usually use my n-k executer, its even better with speed slice and the animations with it are way cooler then tk imo.

hmm, pretty sure that post-cu, once you;re down to hitting once per second... you're capped. so .83 isnt really any better than 1.0


not 100% sure on that tho, but close to it
