Thread: Food and Stims after the CU....?
Well, stims are stims: they heal damage.
Now they are usable by anyone (their tied to your Combat Level instead of the "medicine use" skill like pre-cu), but are only self-heals, you can't use stims to heal someone else. Off the top of my head, stim A's require CL1 (can be used by anyone), stim B's at CL 15, stim C's at 30-35, and stim D's at CL 60.
Stim use has a 60 second "cooldown" timer, you can only use a stim every 60 seconds. There is a drink "Ruby Bliel" which can reduce this, though. The current behavior (which may be a bit buggy) is that you can use a stim, drink a bliel, use another stim instantly, then use a third stim after 30 seconds. I think the 'use a stim after 30 seconds" is the intended behavior (that's what the description seems to imply), but who knows when it'll get changed / fixed.
Food got changed around a lot, mainly due to the revamp of the stat system. Action / Mind are only used for special abilities, health is the pool that absorbs damage. There are no buffs for Action / Mind pools, but there are quite a few for their regen, which certainly helps holding off the time before you start getting those "too tired" mesages when you try to do anything. There's a couple of food listsstickied over in the Chef forum with the post-CU menu.
Food stacking has also gotten more limited. In addition to the limits based on filling, in general two foods that buff the same stat cannot be taken at the same time. There was a Friday Feature a couple weeks ago that covered the stacking rules, but it takes some practice to get a feel for it.
Action regen foods are very useful (most attacks eat action like popcorn), along with defense boosting foods like Pikatta Pie and Vegeparsine. In the post-CU world, increasing your defense usually reduces the damage you take (although this really only kicks in when your defense is higher than your opponent's accuracy). In the same way, accuracy boosting foods like Crispic and Corellian Ale can help increase your damage output. Food buffs are less of a "must have" than pre-CU, but I think they're still useful, especially against high-end mobs or in PvP.
Thanks sciguy. that explains a lot. I will check out the Chef's forums for those lists and look for the old Friday feature as well.
