Thread: In Support of Post-CU Teras Kasi
Our strengths:
Innate Armor +6000 - I saw a set of blattle armor on Chimaera with similar stats for 1.25 million per set the other day.
COB - +500 to defense - This single ability give us the best single defense roll in the game, period.
Combo Attack - Yes the basic spam numbers are bugged, YOU DONT HAVE TO LOOK AT THE TARGET'S HEALTH BAR =), if you turn on verbose combat spam you will see this does nearly 1010-1050 minus armor, and 1088 minus armor with Katarn.
Meditate/Powerboost - PB is like free vercupti! Meditate is a very handy thing for you non-doc types who get blown up in outer space...
Taunt - There are several complaints out there that the HATE system favors aggro of hard hitting ranged players (true, so stop complaining start TAUNTING). I have been using taunt with great success in the village over the past week. If the NPC starts running for my ranged guys I hit taunt and bring them to me.
Damage Mixing - If damage is your main complaint, pick up a few boxes in swords with advanced armor break. This will give you three hits that do 900+ (crit, head, combo). Does this take a little longer than using a rifle, well yes, it is supposed too. If you are playing your character properly though, you will be in much better shape health and actionwise than your ranged counterpart after downing a single NPC.
Solo and Grouping: I have seen lots of people talking about the usefulness of TKM on Bol missions. Well my friends, Bols are wussies. If I didn't have doc, I would never even bother to go on Bol missions with a ranged group. The ranged guys weigh down on the animal very quickly with their portable nukes and that is that. I heal, but never really get to the Bol. If this is where you are getting your impression of TKM than of course you are disappointed. Well, find a high level group of NS. Aggro them all to the group. I promise you I will be the one standing in the end, rezzing our nuke template bounty hunters. This morning I stood toe to toe with three lvl 84 NS, and was laughing at their corpses in the end with over half my health, half my action, and half my mind left (/think "Next?").
With Doc: with every other master profession I have played, I spend more time healing myself rather than group members. TKM is the only profession I can play where I spend minimal time healing myself and more healing groupies.
"Can a TKM/Doc take down a Full Template Jedi?" - Probably not! "Why, BH do?" - Well a TKM/Doc is played much like you will play a Jedi if you are ever crazy enough to grind the sucker out. My TKM/Doc can take down BH, BH can take down my TKM/Doc...Jedi is a more powerful version of my template. I didn't design it that way, SOE did. Besides, I pretend Jedi dont exist =). Ultimately, paddies call on me to rez, that is how I sleep at night when thinking about this single pvp weakness.
Okay this post is a bit broken, I know. The point I am trying to make, is that we have a very nice profession in the CU. If you go into a fight without using COB while spamming the heck out of combo, then yes, you are going to die. Now that I have been round and round the game, I have to say I have learned to love my old professions again.
We the TKA tanks get a lamer version than swordsmen does, we get few specials, and we are very very very dull atm!
You migh have read and refering to one of my posts about this issue. As of now i think it has become very dull, boring, and more lame than before! I love the CU, but i dont love the changes done to TKA. Heck! gimme some more animations fix combo attack, and fix UA related SEA's ill be more than happy! Just make it more fun! Of ALL the TKA specials, how many do you use now compared to pre CU as a TKM in pve and pvp?
Then again, ive pretty much typed down what i think in the "TK Post CU Vs Pre CU" thread. but ill altso add:
-Atm im having way more fun as a Pistolero. And god help those pure TKA who DONT STACK with eny other profession who adds combat levels! Must be THE dullest fighter profession in eny rp game ever! And i hate it, TKA was so flavored, now it is like watching two old mommas slapping at eachother. And some groinkicks!

Very valid, we do look very bad out there right now. I mean, if we dress right, we look good, but really stupid doing the little kicks.

There is no stand alone combat profession if you want to be viable =). The idea is to find the combo that works best for you. Does TKM need a little help from here and there? Yes, so does swords =). I am sure few BH out there are really happy to have that pistol root =/ (I hate them).

Yeah every profession is way better with others. Tho a BH is in need of other skills to be viable. That class in partcular is about just a waste alone.
Imagine you beeing just a TKM Vs say M-Carbineer. Wich profession is most fun to play. Or Pikes, many skills and loads of Pikes. Meh perhaps TKM post CU is not for me in the long run. Its all about playingstyle. Pre CU i used ALL of the skills in pve and pvp! And now im down to Lunge, Dizzy, armorbreak then hit hit hit hit hit hit with saaaame boooring animations. Ohh my apply armorbreak again.... Get my point of wiew, its not suted for me... sadly, cuz im such a fan of TK!
I like TKM, but without Doc I would be bored to tears. On the other hand if I couldn't lay it down a few times and brawl I would be little more than a headless chicken out there with Bacta infusions.
SOE knows we miss our animations, and they are going to fix it! (/poke tiggs) (/poke thunderheart).

Lol, yeah, It is really bug, spam numbers are buggues, and target's health bar too lol
My normal hit is 3 times better than the Advanced combo attack ...

Lol, yeah, It is really bug, spam numbers are buggues, and target's health bar too lol
My normal hit is 3 times better than the Advanced combo attack ...
Nuttan, this is the part SOE desparately needs to have looked at - combo does more damage. If you turn on verbose, subtract the armor absoption form the total damage you will have the damage done. It is well documented that the total damage spammed with combo in non-verbose combat is wrong.
The devs know about this and it is a simple matter of math, I hope they fix the spam in the next patch. The attack itself is fine really.
