I am guessing race is not critical, but looking for oppinions. Right now I am leaning towards Zabrak.

In terms of Armor I see lots of posts saying you can't wear armor and be effective and lots saying just the opposite....Can people post some real experiences with and without armor. Try to substantiate it with some numbers (about the armor, the weapon you had, skill level, and detail why it did or did not work out).

Thanks!!

i suggest just getting mabri armor. it's sissy looking, but it's light armor just like all armor so it takes 50% off the base damage. mine has 16% against kin so i take a extra def against kin attacks.

it's the least encumbance of all the armors(bone sux so i dont concider it armor).

you can wear any armor as long as you migrate your secondary stats to support them.

as far as those saying armor slows your regen, i haven't been in a fight long enough yet where that makes a difference. and i do use specials.

Zabrak is a good choice - the main benefit will be seen if you choose Medic as well, with our strong secondary mind stats (focus, willpower) we can keep healing ourselves in combat - which means we last a whole lot longer. And Equilibrium is an amazing ability, it's saved me many many times.

Trandoshans are tougher and get some unarmed bonuses, I've never played one so I can't really speak for them though.

As for armour I personally like Ubese, it's pretty good and is easily the winner for looks =) I've got a black Ubese jacket and Chitin bracers, I'm certainly not a walking fortress but it does soak up a lot of damage. I wanted something effective, but looks are important (to me) too - we lookinfinitely cooler than anybody else in combat so I want to make the most of it

I wound up with I think 30% kinetic resistance on each piece, energy resistance islow but it's there. The main bonus is the fact that it's light armour, so that's half the damage for anything that doesn't have an armour piercing attack. Remember to get a full set though as anything you're not protecting doesn't get the benefit of armour (so with my nifty jacket and bracers I can still get kneecapped to death just as easily as without them).

So- by all means go for it, just remember to leave it off when you're not fighting. JiveTimeMofo is right, regeneration isn't fast enough to make a difference in combat (with the possible exception of a Zabrak's mind pool) so you want those resists.

Zabrak and Trando are the only races that complement the profession good, trando serving strong health; decent action and horrible mind coupled with nice unarmed bonuses like +10 to every unarmed mod; whereas zabrak get +10 to every kind of defense, decent health; lame action; and spectacular mind; Trando is best done with a CH / TKA whereas zabrak is more likely to follow the path of doctor / tka oh yeah Zabraks have the innate ability to heal mind every hour. (life saver) plus a +50 buff to every bar.
