I mean just look at how many TKAs there are in the game , 1 out of 2 peoples you will meet in game is a TKA and thats not exagerated. To be honest , I think I hate every single TKA in this game , I do not respect them like the great artists that they should be , I mean whats wrong with this? How come there are sooo many of them,I think weshould rename the game toTKA online if thats what half of the server population will be playing (yes even when they will get nerfed).

TKA is a great core profession to build a good pvp template around it. I think.

TKA is cool, im alot of games unarmed skills really blow but this is an exception. people enjoy kicking other peoples asses in the highest faliure rate profeesion in all games. i just do it for the ladies/holocrons.

While I think it's wrong to knock someone else's reason for picking a class (who cares if X does it "for love" while Y does it "for PvP"?), I agree that the number of people flocking to the class is a sign of trouble.

It's one of the few working combat professions. You won't see people flock to the others until they are fixed too. Remember the big TK nerf? Look how many people left TK then. With the new mitigation system if you are serious about surviving and winning in factions PvP it's wise to get a melee and ranged mastery. TK is one of the best melee professions (meditation makes it the best IMO).

Wait until the ranged prfessions aside from rifle are working.. Once people can start seriously winning fights as a pistoleer or carbineer then the professions will balance themselves out more.

Goodness.

Stop whining.

You should be glad to know that it takes skill and smart thinking to play a melee class in a ranged world.

Most of those TKA's you see are probably zerglings.

Who will run into a kiter's incoming fire until death.

But I'm guessing from your tone you probably died to one who knows how to play the proff.

He probably waited in a cantina for ya, and you being greedy and wanting a kill ran in after him and died.

TKAs have meditation, an invaluable skill. Not only that, but they are the most powerful melee profession.

Dirty Fighting 4/Master Pistoleer/TKM/the main dodge line of Fencer = a force to be reckoned with.

You know I think its the opposite .. TKA is just **edit** fun. It has more depth and skill than some of the other combat classes i have done and sure the damage output is huge .. but that just adds to the fun. Its always a buzz to do some rediculously huge damage hit. I know I keep track of my max hits etc and try to see if I better them.

I don't know about PvP, im a wookie CH and therefore a soft target in PvP .. im taking TKA for the pure fun of beating the hell out of mobs.

The popularity of TKA is a mix of several things:

  • It's more developed than any other profession. Pretty much everything in TKA works.

  • It's FUN to play. With the many different moves, state effects, animations, I find it much more fun to play a TKA over a pistoleer.

  • It's the most useful. You can heal yourself, buff yourself, and do more damage than some other professions. While this may be unbalancing, the other professions really need to be upped. Rather than a nerf to TKA.

  • It's a centralized skill for other professions. Unarmed 4 is required commando and smuggler, so it's natural that people would save skillpoints by mastering/dabbling in a profession they already have the pre-reqs for. (Although, IMO the pre-reqs should be upped.)

  • It's a fun profession.

  • It's as close to jedi as some people are going to get.

  • Did I mention it's a fun profession?

With these in mind, it's a natural choice.

I picked it for roleplaying purposes. I always pictured my toon having great martial arts skills along with excelling at firearms.
