Hi guys I have a couple of really noobish questions. I'm hoping not to offend anyone with my stupidity as for not finding them in sticky. They are pretty basic questions.
One is regarding total item count. I know you can have 60 total items in inventory. But i have one backpack that seems not to count the included items. Are there in-game containers or packs that you can place items in to not have them count against inventory? If so could someone suggest a few.
The second question is about professions. If I master say combat medic and then choose to sell it back to master another profession, do i lose all of my combat medic skills? I here people talk about mastering multiple combat arts, but if you lose all skills from a previously mastered set, what is the benefit of trading? Is there a benefit or just latteral movement of preferred skillset?
Should I master something say TKA, sell it back and master something else like Sword? what are then benefits beyond badges of trading master skills?
Thanks again for the input!

You can only hold 60 unequipped items. You can equip one backpack (there's something else that can occupy the same slot, maybe a bandolier) which can hold items not counting against the item limit. You can use storage modules on a droid, and the items, if placed on a hotkey, can be pulled out of the droid without calling the droid (if you have inventory space). Items in droids are not affected by decay as items in main inventory and backpacks are. There's also bank storage, house storage, factory storage, and vendor storage, but none of these are immediately accessible.
The only professions use can make use of are the ones you currently have. The benefit of switching can be a change in focus of what you wish to do, or obtaining items that can make you more effective given a different template, or even experience with a template showing that you're missing something, and altering your template to cover the gap (think defense vs. states).
As for mastering TKA just to drop it and take up something else, I'd say there's no real reason, but a change may renew interest. I went from Master Pistoleer and Master CH, to TKM (and crafting), to Swordsman (I wanted blast damage), back to TKM plus 4000 Commando (FS grind) and am now dropping most of TKA for Rifleman. If you feel like you might like something better, don't be afraid to try it...

Just in case you didn't know;
It is possible to master more than one profession at the same time.
You could, for example, be TKM, Master Fencer and Master Brawler, or you could be Master Tailor and master Bio Engineer.
There are enough skill points for a lot of different profession combinations.
Check out a character builder.
