Thread: Meditation XP
I totally agree with you. Meditation XP should come from just meditating, since it is the antithesis of fighting. However, I also can hear the cries of people who would claim how lame getting meditation XP would be from sitting doing nothing. It would be the ultimate AFK system of leveling.
So . . . . I suppose it's just something we TK'ers will have to live with.
: )
Anyway: As we fight we come closer to that singularity of mind that is nirvana. In other words, more fighting = better meditation. That's a dumb explanation, but it works.
i would like to take the ideaa step further
instead of getting meditation xp for just meditating, you get meditation xp for healing bleeding, disease, wounds, etc, and for using powerboost and forceofwill successfully. to make this work (since it would take forever to gain that first box by healing bleeding...) i think that meditation should heal wounds/disease/etc everything that a master can heal right off the bat. every time you mend a wound or slow bleeding or whatever, then you get meditation xp.
the obvious problem is that this is very enticing... why wouldn't everyone just get novice tk? well, in my idea, the potency of meditation would start out extremely weak (novice TK heals 1 wound per tick, and the ticks are significantly slower at novice than at master).
to further flesh it out, i think that each healing action should have a mind cost. so, effectively, every time you gain meditation xp, you are charged an amount of mindpool. introduce a skill mod called ''meditation efficiency'' which is a measure of how much mind you lose per tick. as you gain in meditation, so do you gain in efficiency, when finally at master the cost is entirely nominal (1 mind point per tick, which no matter how low your willpower is, will regen naturally faster than it is charged
)
now, i like that idea
but i do see a problem with it. by taking away a full tree of unarmed combat xp, TK would be entirely too fast to master. perhaps to compensate, the xp breakpoints for the unarmed combat trees could be raised. a rough idea would be that the breakpoints are 200k, 300k, 400k, 500k (nice even numbers, and only slightly higher than their current iterations).
well, that's how i would implement meditation xp anyway (^_^) looks like alot of changes though, which means it's going to be merely a pipe dream as far as i'm concerned... oh well, i can dream right? ![]()
