I am currently an MBH, and due to the recent publish have 81 skill points left. I've never had the opportunity to experience playing any of the melee classes in this game and thought I might take the opportunity to see if adding some TKA skills would be fun.
So I have a few questions and was really hoping I could get some advice.
I have52 skill points to spend on TKA (After I've already bought the required tree of brawler) and was wondering what the BEST TKA setup would be with those52 points...mainly for PVE and friendly one-on-one PVP Duels.
Right now...I'm hemming and hawing between a few different templates. My friend is a master doc so I never have need for medic skill as they are always with me. I don't do any Jedi-Hunting so I don't need to worry about that. I also know that I want to keep MBH in whatever template I decide.
Here are my 3 templates I'm deciding between:
1)
MBH
TKA xxxx (Depends on the advice I get from you guys)
2)
MBH
Carbineer 0304
TKA 0120
3)
MBH
Carbineer 0424
Pistoleer 0040
Rifleman 0030
Any helpful thoughts, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The greatest advantages you will get from TK tree is Melee Damage Mitigation and Meditation. (unarmed melee defense only works with VK or bare hands)
Lvl 2 melee dmg mitigation is the max without master TK. This, obviously lets you take less dmg from melee attacks, good thing for BH whom all haverange attacks.
(other melee classes give this also, smuggler gives you lvl 1 melee mitigation)
Meditation allows you to heal all wounds, which is one of the biggest reasons for subbing TK. Higher meditation faster you heal wounds(all wounds)
Your main class is BH so your gonna use those attacks and skills the most. So unarmed dmg and defense really isnt goin to help your overalll dmg output, unless you want to save some condition on some weapons while farming or something, which generally isnt an issue)
So, Get meditation as far as you can and get melee dmg mitigation up to lvl 2.

Thanks so much for your response Nosgoth...I'm really going bonkers over this decision. We MBH's aren't used to having 'options'..hehe.
Let me refine my question a little...
In my own time playing...I hear many tales of "TKA's are the gods of PVE" and such. Tales of TKA's fighting Rancors as easily as shrugging off fleas and such. I've seen TKA's take down Rancors myself. My 'job' as MBH was...uhm....well...I was pretty much relegated to cheerleader
Occassionally I got a little damage in...but this TKA was knocking 'em down...and they weren't getting back up. My knockdowns were comparably laughable against mobs...they just go down and hop right back up.
So this is why I was considering TKA....is because my friend and I will be doing mostly PVE. But...its entirely possible that what I've seen and heard is MORE due to buffs and great armor then to the actual skill points expended on the profession. I surely don't want to give up my carbineer skills to work up the TKA trees only to discover I'm no better off and no more help to my friend than when I started.
So, as a TKA, and in your experience of OTHER professions fighting PVE...how do you feel you do? Is it the same....just a 'little' better...or a TON better?

That's all garbage. First off, there are many professions better at PvE than us, swordsman comes to mind. Heck we can't even damage certain creatures (due to kinetic resistance). Rancors aren't that hard, I can take one with a geo pistol and I'm only 0340 pistoleer. TKAs are pretty good at PvE but not gods.
"Occassionally I got a little damage in...but this TKA was knocking 'em down...and they weren't getting back up."
That must have been a long time ago, before warcry was nerfed. You used to be able to use a KD and then warcry on an enemy to freeze him then destroy him in the 20 seconds it took for warcry to wear off (I actually did that very thing on rancors before the nerf, it was fun). Now warcry goes away if the person is attacked so those rancors would pop right back up after getting KD.
Remember, dizzy doesn't work on creatures, only humanoid NPCs, so even dizzy+KD won't work on a rancor. I can get off maybe 4 attacks (at one attack per second) on a creature after knocking him down before he gets up.
"So this is why I was considering TKA....is because my friend and I will be doing mostly PVE. You will be disappointed. Any elite profession (even bounty hunter) with good buffs and good armor will be able to stand up to almost any mob in the game. In fact, a BH will be better than a TKM against some creatures (for example, your LLC will do well on a corvette mission where everything resists kinetic but not electric).
If you want to be really good in PvE and want to do melee, take swordsman or pikeman (pikemen get really cool area attacks, imagine spinning your pike around and knocking a tons of creatures down, then spinning it around again and whacking hard on em).

Thanks VERY much for the info guys! Its greatly appreciated!
I had originally left the game for a while, and then I come back and suddenly MBH's dont' need Master Scout...so suddenly I have something we never had much of...a few choices. These days I'm always playing with my friend, and so we want to maximize the places we can go, the things we can do, and our survival in PVE when its just the two of us...so trying to decide whether to add more ranged professions to MBH (Carbineer/Pistoleer, etc) or to give up the carbineer/pistoleer in favor of a melee profession has been a difficult decision.
Your words dispensing the TKA myths, and your advice about checking with swordsman/Pikemen is just fabulous! Thankyou so much for your kind help and advice

One other thing you might look at (although I like the BH with some TK template) is Master BH with Smuggler Dirty Fighting and TK 4-0-0-3 (for Meditation and Defenses).
It would give you a fairly well rounded template, with primary focus on Pistol attacks, just don't expect the TK part to be real strong with that template, as you don't gain much over Novice.

if you're set on master bounty hunter, i would pick up the defences line in pistoleer, or for carb, get ether the KD line or the crippling shot line
unless you're after melee mitigation or meditation, i wouldn't advise it

im dropping ch for master brawler when I get an uber vk I will own in pvp.
A. a good dot pike for when I just cant do damage to them.
B. A good nym or nightsister motor
C. unarmed lunge and 2 which have differnt timers and kd/dizzy that gives me the ability to put em on there back and keep em there.
Sorry just had to share my up and ocming template
