Thread: i afraid that the new combat system will take away our templates

i am a 2-1-4-2 tka am going for 4-0-0-0 fencer as well for defences i am worried if i do that the combat balance wont allow me to do this if they change how defence stacking works....am I the only one who is worried about this??

Not really worried, just very interested to see how it plays out. I know 100% that I'm not gonna change TKA as my main profession. I really wouldn't be terribly bothered if I had to rework my complimentary skill choices (i.e. def stacking), so long as there is balance and I can still come up with a reasonable template centered around melee and tka.

The thoughts are you only get the defenses of the weapon you are using.
...like is well considered, being able to defend yourself with a pistol, has nothing to do with defending yourself with a sword. But who knows...until the testing and coding is actually released.

i see i want the defences of a tka/fencer for my jedi when i get it (23 more fs boxes to go) perhaps i am better off just waiting to be fencer till i know if its going to change.

Well remember....no one has any idea when or if the Balance Happens. Testing will start after Publish 10 -- but they've said it's on hold until past JTL. :/

No dev has mentioned even changing, let alone ditching defense stacking. However if it ever happens, I'll just go TKM/Master Doc.

realistically, I wouldn't expect it until January.
I am also interested in seeing how the defense stacking will play out. I think it would be good for PvP if it's limited, or only a combination of profession's defenses stack together. I also think it will make the "master" level of all the combat professions more valuable since you have to achieve that level to get most of the "good" bonuses.(mitigation 3, speed, damage, accuracy and the like)

If it ever happens, I'll go ahead and master smuggler, keep TKM, and put the rest into medic and FS stuff. Not too worried about it really, been in enough MMOs to know that things change every now and then, and you just have to adjust with it.

what mean defence stacking im tkm commando we got now defence LOl , from what ive heard it has to do with the Ranged and melee defence i think not state def but im not 100% on this are even 2%

Even if they remove the stacking TKA will still be a tank. Maybe pickup doctor so that you can heal states/poison/disease and fire in duels with you spare SP?

That's why I have 4440 Fencer, 0043 pistoleer. A nightsister managed to knock me down the other night and I was shocked. That hasn't happened in a LONG time.
