I know that when I began the game about 4 months ago, my first elite prof was fencer. I did not like it and quit for something else. I finished TKM and went back to do fencer and found that being TKM seem to make a huge difference to how offton I was hit while grinding Fencer. I also know that the dizzy defense stacks. Hope this helps.

State, melee, and ranged defenses all stack. Mitigation does not, and nothing stacks with Defensive acuity because Teras Kasi is the only profession that uses it.

Does that help?

I thought the NGE couldn't be any worse than the CU, but I was wrong.

ifyou take a profession for the defenses, be it fencer or pistols or swordsman, the +Dodge, +Melee, +Ranged, +Status, and +Posture change defenses will all work for you no matter what weapon you are using (or in our case NOT using). they all stack on your base defense and will work for you in unarmed combat.

what will NOT work without the associated weapon would be anything preceded by the weapon specific names like:
One-hand Melee toughness
One-hand Weapon Accuracy
Two-handed Melee center of being efficancy
Two-handed Weapon Speed

hope that makes some sense

Im new to the game and im almost TKM. I see alot of people suggest going with Fencer along with your tkm. But, are the fencer skills such as "dodge" usable when fighting unarmed, or only when using a sword? If only when using a sword, then why choose both tkm and fencer, since they are both close range melee?

Thx for any help.
