I'm already a decent 2 hand swordsman (0/2/0/1). ido mind bleed, then ihead hit2 a few times and this works pretty good at bringing tough stuff down. about a week ago though, in faction pvp, i fought a tka and incaped me several times. so i started looking at tka, and really liked their meditate skill, and thier ability to target any ham bar. so i decided i would go for novice tka and see if li liked that style of fighting better than 2hand swords. well a week later i have just achieved unarmed 4 and have a long 125k xp to go until novice tka.as i'm going now it will take at least another week, maybe a little longer, to reach tka.

anyway what i'm wondering is, when i reach novice tka will i see a great jump in effectiveness? right now i use vk because i get increased dmg and speed as opposed to not wearing them even though i'm not certified. however i'm still marginally weaker than what i was as 2 hand at the same level.is it worth the week to reach novice tka and then compare, or should i just quit and stay with my swords.

Novice TKA for meditate- stopping of bleeding, poisons, disease.

With so little points we have, it is rather difficult for any melee to serve 2 masters. Though many melee on my server have chosen novice TKA for the meditate, since there is a large lack of healing classes around.

Well, the reason you were stronger as a swordsman at that level is because you are not certified for vibro knucklers. Believe me, there is a BIG diff in damage once you get novice tka and start using those vks.

About that tka beating you, he was most likely close to master, because 2handed will own tka 9 times out of 10 at the same skill level. Im not gonna lie, tka does suck, we are the gimps of melee, but I keep playing because regardless of being very weak, I still enjoy it. Maybe you will enjoy it also, but from your post, it sounds like you're all about power and who can own who in pvp. So I'd guess that you would wanna stick with 2handed sword for sure.

I'm with LocWolf, I'm only still a TKA because I enjoy martial arts. I'm havin fun with my speicals and other attacks, I like attempting to fight things. Even (white) con'd things to my group on naboo and corellia are fun to beat down. And thats why I stick with it, fun factor for me. But I'd be lying if I said the nerfs haven't been hurting, we used to be able to fight bigger things, more things at the same time. Now we're reduced to fighting with down time, a single even or yellow con. Occassionally 2, but with 2 then we're sittin until they heal.

This new 30 second thing is gonna be the deal maker for me tho. If I can't fight 2 even cons and live because of my mind damage (after they also beat on it for a few) TK's gettin shelved while I work on BE after killin master entertainer.

I thought about it last night before i went to bed, and decided i'm gonna stick with tka. Like2 of you said, i enjoy the combat even though i'm not that good in it yet. i mean **edit**, for our special moves we have red lines thats follow our fist and feet through the air. way prettier than any 2 hand special. even if i'm doing a little less dmg, i dont mind (although the peeps in my group are giving me a hard time about it). if you look at the specials for 2 hand, their is very little difference b/w the offensive and defensive colums. plus i really want meditate.

Swords have those red lights on test center actually, and it will be in the game soon. Also about tka doing a "little" less damage. I've seen a novice swordsman do 3500 dmg on a creature, while I was at novice tka hitting the same creature for 500. So actually, you'll be a little bit faster than a 2handed swordsman, and do about 1/6 the dmg they do.

Up to you, if you think you will enjoy it sure.

If you are doing it for bonuses or pvp then its a bad idea.
