Thread: Dont misuse Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee admitted in several interviews that if someone used a Gun, they would win... But seeing as this is a game, and in no way shape or form like real life...

Bruce Lee was an Actor and Philosopher... He is infact my Hero, and I enjoy quotes and books about him etc... But saying a person can live through 5 gunshots to the chest is a bit unrealistic... Have you ever seen someone shot in the chest, Ever seen someone guppy breathing because one of their lungs is punctured and the pressure is causing their trachea to deviate insomuch that their airway becomes blocked and they choke and die?

Lets see you try to disarm somebody when they blow your hand off...

I think TKA and brawler classes are getting no love, I would hope TKAs get bonuses to natural run speed, and that Kiting will be slightly nerfed, like you slow down as you fire.... I am actually a Pistoleer and dropped a Heavy Swordsman when he came in range with a Pistol Whip to a bunch of double taps... 100 hp per hit in PvP or so...

What I am saying is, this game is nothing like reality, and everyones concept of Kung Fu and Martial Arts is HIGHLY skewwed due to years of martial arts video games and movies....

You've never seen what really happens to people when they get punched in the face twenty times and had their ribs cracked in various places from several kicks while they were on the ground, some of you have never seen alvulsed skin hanging from someones cranium because he took a hit to the head with a nightstick...

But Ultimately, dont misuse my Hero, Bruce Lee... He was not a god, he was mortal, and he knew it.

hehe. I study shaolin kung fu. I lived in china for a while... My master was better than even most shaolin monks and he said, "he has a gun, you give him your wallet" hehe

however, this being a game and all and a Teras Kasi being supposed to be a lot more than some earthly kung fu master, make him viable.

hehe, one of the shao-lin monks I knew in Chinahad a poster of bruce lee on his wall. his specialty was kickboxing. when asked about Bruce Lee he would say, "Lee Shao Long have very good jab speed! very fast!"

I am also reminded of what the lead stunt coordinator and trainer who works on the starwars films said in reference to the Jedi and their combat skills, basically its that if you bring a sword to a gun fight you'd better to **edit** good with it. That's not to say they'll lose, but the melee professions need to be exceptionally good fighters to stand a chance against blaster and in the case of gameplay I'd say we need something to help us deal with kiting. A burst of speed, enhanced dodging, intimidation that makes the opponent so nervous that their aim is severely compromised. Just something to help even the playing field a bit. Ultimately if someone shoot at you from 64m you're gonna die, however when the fight starts at 20m and remains at that distance because you can't outrun the other person you have to start questioning the logic behind it from a gameplay point of view.

With all due respect, a Teras Kasi Artist would clown Bruce Lee. No one is mis-using Bruce Lee except you by bringing him into this subject. Expecting a Teras Kasi Master to survive in a gun-fight is quite a bit different than expecting Bruce Lee to live through a real-life gunfight. The most obvious point is that this is fiction...

People can survive many gun shots. As long as it's not vital areas, duh. And of course, as long as medical attention is served. In every game, in everything i've played or seen.. MELEE OWNS ANYTHING. It's a rule!.. up close you don't stand a chance. That's why ranged is ranged.. they can attack from far away. that's all. nothing more. Nothing gives them the right to be stronger.

What if Melee fighters could dodge better at closer ranges....? It makes sense, as the Melee gets closer, he is able to get a better read on where the next shot is coming from, and the the Ranged fighter should get some heavy accuracy issues when running. Unless ofcourse they have skills related to run n gun, which is a pistoleers only advantage in a straight up fight, fire while moving....

everyone has made good points, true, if you were shot ANYWHERE you would be hampered. in the leg, you couldnt run, in the arm , you couldnt use that arm well. the same with punching/kicking people. the only problem in applying real-life rules to this game is that even though it makes sense and its a good source for arguement, the combat in this game is more generalized for dmg wise, they dont have it precise enough where you can choose to shoot in the arm/leg in the sense that its anything other then a particular damage bar. perhaps once they fix more of the bugs they will come back and alter this aspect of the game. untill then it would make sense to just have it generalized because its MUCH easier to program then limb specific combat. just have to be happy with what we get for now huh....although it will be hella sweet when they do change it.
