My advice to you is to get out while you still can. I'm not going to start a debate about whether or not Tk's are now "useless" or whether we suck now, but I will make one point to you; TKA isn'tfun to play anymore. It's like working 9 to 5 whenever I log in nowadays. Even when I try to take a break from the repetitive ass whooping I regularly recieve from beasties by fighting PvP, I get repeatedly knocked down by BH's and novice pistoleers. *Whoops*, I'm on my ass again... *Whoops*, I'm on my ass again... looks like I should have trained harder in "Balance Conditioning".

Well, thats not good news at all. I haven't even logged in in 6 days now with my other char. I was hoping to get a fresh start by playing a new char and profession. Now, this sounds like it is not any fun as well.

I was thinking about maybe taking up TKA/Medic/Scout. Would that be a viable build or should I take something else up? I don't want to have to use a ranged weapon, etc.; my other char does that.

Thanks for the response though :}

My first word ofadvice is to reconsider being atrando. Trando really helps in the brawler stage of the game, but IMHO the stat restrictions aren't worth it in the long run. Especially with the relatively large increase to unarmed damage across the board, the Trando bonus stats become a smaller and smaller percentage of your overall damage potential.

This is not to say you can't be highly successful as a Trando TKA. The unarmed speed and damage bonuses are real and do make a difference, but unless you like being a lizard for RP reasons, you might enjoy another race (such as zabrak) more in the long run.

Well, I didn't know much about the stat restrictions of the Trando, but I did notice the advantages to brawler. I am assuming that Trandos suffer from stat restrictions to their action and mind pools? Did I incorrectly assume that being a melee class, that I needed high health because of the increased damage I would be taking by fighting toe to toe?

Thanks again for the responses. I might need to reconsider my choice of a Trando then becasue I didn't choose him for roleplaying reasons, just thought he would be the best for melee with added speed, damage, and regeneration.

Heya exe,

My advice is pick the race that seems like the most fun to you. Also, TKA IS a fun class to play, it is just a bit harder to play then any of the ranged proffessions. If you have been reading these boards, you will see there are a lot of people complaining about TKAs. The reason for this is because: 1) the Devs (the people who made the game) realized that a couple of our moves made us unbalanced in contrast to the other classes so they are in the process of balancing us as we speak. A good deal of people on these boards have lost a good deal of power and are understandably upset about this. My advice on this is if you really want to be a TKA, stick with it. Any changes the Devs make are by no means permanent, and the class is still fun to play. Okay, point #2: We are harder to play then Ranged Proffessions and in Player vs. Player are at a disadvantage. Both of the reasons for this are the fact that we can't shoot things from a distance; we have to run up and smack things around. In player vs. player combat this is a serious disadvantage as most players are smart enough to stay out of range from our fists and pick us off from a distance. My advice on this is: pick up some ranged skills with some of your left over points. I am a Smuggler/TKA/Pistoleer and it is a pretty brutal combo. There is actually a post on these boards from someone has the same template as I do and is doing great in PvP.

Long winded post, sorry. Hope this helps youout some and anything else we can help with, let us know.

Hey,

Yes, that helped a lot. As of right now, I am partaking in the PvP aspect of the game. Just wanted to do something different. Thanks for the advice, it helped me out a lot.

Bottom line is... to be a successful TK master you MUST have a gun!

That seems to be Holo's vision for us. Good luck in your endeavors. I await this next patch before passing final judgement on a profession I once loved. And, no, not because I was a God (which I wasn't).

That is a sad idea if it is true. Teras Kasi needing to resort to using a gun is absurd in my book. I hope it does not come to this. Maybe I have chosen the wrong profession to try next ?

Hey,
Don't let everyones talking bad about the profession get you down. Sure, it is not as easy as blasting something away with a big gun. BUT, to me, it is still more fun (I have a BH on another server), as it is not as easy, it makes it a challenge. They are still continually in the process of balancing everything out so that everyone has an enjoayable gaming experience. Personally, I love playing a TKA, and I am beating down red con enemies, solo, without a whole lot of difficulty. Just requires a lot different strategy than fighting with ranged weapons. Give it a try, is all I am saying, and you might just like it.

Don't get me wrong Jase/Xiro. I have loved this profession. I have worked through nerfs. I became Master sometime after the first major nerf. I still play it and enjoy it. I never spammed KD except to show it to a friend of mine. But I fear this 30 second timer and the reduction to 5 second efficacy scares me to my core. The HAM costs were enough! That is why Igave up Artisan and started as medic. But now...

I love to solo... just me out in the middle of nowhere (and NO, I am not talking about 15k HAM monsters).I don't know if it will be possible for soloing after this patch, though I will give it a fair shake. And for those that say, "pick up a gun", that is not the "vision" I had for my profession. And I would reply, "I'm gonna take that gun and shove it where the sun don't shine", but of course I can't catch your novice butt. <<<< poor attempt at humor.

I admit I gave in and took up CH to help tip the balance in my favor, (I really need to update my signature)but the more I think about it the more I am considering going TKM/Master Doctor. Get some of those HAM buffs and see if I can still solo. Any TKA/Master Doctor's out there with some insight on this?

Good luck one and all!
