Thread: Stat mig for a Zabrak and the all powerful Armor Question ...

Hello everyone...

I just hit TKA, and I'm doing a TKM and CM template. Not sure which slots of CM I want to do yet, but I want to play it a little more before I make my decision.

1st question:
Whats a good stat mig for a Zabrak? Right now I'm sporting:
Health: 999
Str: 351
Const:380

Action:1101
Quick:450
Stam:390

Mind:660
Focus:368
Willpower:700

How does that stack up?
I'm doing PvE now, but want to get into PvP in a little while.

2nd Question: The ARMOR DEBATE:
I know its in the FAQ, but it's kind of vague. Obviously the pros for wearing armor and its defense. The cons for wearing armor are the special drains. I'm interested in your personal reasons.

As far as stat migration goes I have one word: MIND. Mind dictates your powerboost level and mind is always at a premium. I wouldn't suggest maxing it at the expense of all your other stats, but a good amount of mind and its substats are important.

As for armor, I only wear it when I go rancor hunting (dath in general). Anything else really isn't worth needing to be buffed, double dosed on brandy, full stomach, and/or on spice in order to use specials with no HAM costs.

Put all stats into mind, with the leftover points equally put it into Health and Action

I'm not a PvPer, prefering to PvE (I don't like the 1337 jackasses who grief you after they def stack beat you), and I use (and have used) my starting Human Novice Scout stats for most everything, haven't really seen a need to change it.

I believe its like this. 900,900,800 for primaries, and usually 350-450 for secondaries. I'm not a stat migratior, so I have no clue if these stats are good, but I like them.

Ok, I dont have powerboost. Can you explain it a little more? I've heard lots about it, but what exactly does it do?

I must say that is a poor choice. Mind is the most important. It is the stat hit the most & it is the stat that dictates how good of a powerboost you get.

Awesome Atama, thanks a ton for a great explanation!

Clarification question...
When it was said that 'put the rest into action and health equally'

Does that mean Action and health are maxed, and skimp on the sub-skills, or should I balance them as much as possible? How do the Str, Const, quick, and stam stack up for a TKM? I know what they do, I read that in the game datapad help thingy, but how do they apply to me as a tka?

Here's how powerboost works.

You sit and meditate (you only need to be *in* the meditation posture, you don't have to meditate for any length of time). You use then use /powerboost and that's all you have to do.

Now, what happens initially is that your mind will drop 500 points. (That's your max mind score). So if your mind is 800, it will drop to 300. Don't worry, it quickly regenerates back to normal (it takes a minute). But make sure you have at least 500 points in your mind pool (including damage) or the game won't let you do it.

Now, after that minute is over, your health, action, and mind pools are all boosted by half of your base mind minus wounds. In other words, let's say your stats are 700/800/600. After you do powerboost and the minute of down time is over, your stats are 1000/1100/900 (half of 600 is 300). If you buff your mind in any way (dancer buff, brandy, etc.) that doesn't affect the powerboost, it only goes by your base score. However, if your mind is wounded, that will reduce your powerboost. So if you had the stats I quoted but had 50 wounds to your mind pool, you'd end up with only 975/1075/875 (600-50=550, half of 550 is 275).

Secondary stats don't apply at all with powerboost. The powerboost itself wears off after 7 or 8 minutes, which isn't bad, it lasts almost as long as most spices but without any negative side effects. When powerboost runs out, your HAM scores slowly go down until they go back to their original values (this takes a minute). Once your stats are back to normal you can powerboost again immediately, so you never need to wait more than a couple minutes to use the ability. So as you can tell, powerboost is pretty nice, it costs you nothing and only takes a few seconds to activate. In fact I even have a macro that will put me in meditate mode, use powerboost, then stand me back up:

/sit;/pause 2;/meditate;/pause 2;/powerboost;/pause 2;/stand

Also, note why it's so helpful to migrate everything into your mind pool. Let's say your stats are balanced, 800/800/800. If you use powerboost, your stats become 1200/1200/1200. Then migrate 100 points out of health and action into mind (assuming your max mind is 1000 for your species). You'd have 700/700/1000 for base stats, but 1200/1200/1500 when you powerboost. You lost nothing out of health or action, but gained 300 points of mind. Pretty cool.

Well here has been my recent experience as a Zabrak and TKA migrating stats to work for both PvP and PvE...

As suggessted in this post, cap all 3 of your mind stats then even out your health and action hams. Don't worry about putting many points into non-mind substats. Since we Zabraks have a very low FOCUS cap, you are goign to probably want to buy some food to supliment. I use Ahrisa and Canape, Ahrisa when fighting and need to not use my mind on specials, and Canape when i need some regen to go along with it.

Remember... when you are Doc buffed your Str, Const, Quickness, and Stamina willNOT really be a factor..... Armor or not. So make a commitment to always fight buffed, or always leave your armor on.

Shop around and find the best armor you can that is within your price range. Try to find all resist sliced. And look for resists in the 80%+ range.

Regarding the mind thingy. I just want to dispell a myth. Mind is extremely important to a tka but how much you put into it really depends on your race and what you are doing.

My tka is a human and I play with very balanced stats. 800/800/800 on my primaries and my secondaries all pretty much equal around the 450 to 500 mark.

This makes me very effective as an unbuffed tkm. I take 2 brandies and an ahrisa and I can spam specials indefinitely with no vk equipped and pretty good with a vk equiped(and I don't have healing either). When I am tanking against high end content I forgo the Ahrisa and use a mixture of brandy, canapes, and muon to keep my mind high and of course I use buffs and armor as needed.

It works really well and I have never had a problem.

That said, it all depends on your race and what you are doing. If you PvP, you always want your mind as high as you can get it. Likewise, if you always fight buffed in PvE , you might decide having higher mind would suit you better, but that is a personal choice and not a necessity at all.

Now, all that out of the way, in the case of zabraks, yes maxing your mind stats is the best choice. The main reason being Zabraks have really low health and action secondaries anyway. So, you are better off putting everything into your mind stats then put the rest in your action and health primaries(maybe a little in your action secondaries for VK purposes).

I disagree with you Utess. Because of powerboost, you are wasting points any time you don't max out your mind score. Species is irrelevant, powerboost works the same way for every species.

Your stats are 800/800/800? Then when using powerboost you are 1200/1200/1200. If you reduce health and action by 100, and add 200 to mind, your stats will be 1200/1200/1500. You lose nothing and gain 300 points of mind.

I'm not saying you *have* to max out mind, but if you don't max it out you're selling yourself short. Mathematically, every point taken out of both action and health and put into mind will come back when you powerboost.
